Day Trip to Plymouth - Any Suggestions?
We're planning an impromptu day trip to Plymouth with the parents on a Friday. We haven't been there since we were kids, so we don't have any idea how to spend the day. Any suggestions?
Or would you suggest we plan a trip somewhere else in the vicinity?

I love Plymouth!
I do not recommend going to Plimoth Plantation if you are just there for a day. Admission is expensive and to get your money's worth you would need to spend all day there. If you want to do some history stuff, go tour the Mayflower II instead.
The waterfront area is great and on a nice day you can spend a ton of time down there walking around. A block up from the waterfront is Main Street which has antique stores and other interesting shops. Water Street is more souvenir stuff.
There are a few wineries downtown where you can do tastings. I think there might be a brewery too, but I haven't been to it.
There are whale watches and harbor cruises you can take. I think harbor cruises leave from the pier where they Mayflower II is docked, and whale watches from the pier on the other side of the harbor.
I like going to Cupcake Charlie's and trying their different flavors. I haven't been disappointed yet.
Do some research on parking or bring a lot of quarters. I'm pretty sure all they have downtown is meter parking but I could be mistaken.
