Help me with DH's birthday

His birthday is 3 days after our anniversary.  We don't really do "gifts", we save that money and put it towards our trips or other large purchases.  However, I would like to get him something small, just as a token to say, "hey, I love you, happy birthday".  For my birthday we were working and he got up early and made me a big breakfast.  Any ideas????

Re: Help me with DH's birthday

  • does he drink hard alcohol (scotch, burbon...) I got S granite ice cubes for his b-day and he loves them.

Sweet tooth? Milk chocolate covered caramels with Sea Salt

    Small cologne?

    New tie/tie bar?

Specialty aftershave? S has one he loves that I got him for Christmas, it helps with bumps and irritation.

  • I was going to suggest a 6 pack of Longboarder or other beer from Hawaii since you just got back from there.

  • This won't work for all men - but send him for a massage. Make him an appointment and don't tell him until it's time to leave....

I did this for DH when he was going through a REALLY stressful time at work - best idea ever.

Again - not all men might like getting a massage, but you get the idea...You could do the same thing with golfing - book him a tee time, co-ordinate with his friends etc. (If he golfs..) Again - you get the idea!

  • I don't know that this is what you were thinking about as it's not really a present.

However, last year, I made my husband a bunch of cards (it's a hobby of mine).  I then hid them all over-- propped on the bathroom mirror, behind the milk in the fridge, taped on the front door, on the driver's seat of his car, etc.

Basically I just though about his morning routine and put cards all over where he would get them in the morning.  He liked it a lot.
