do you use your oven often in the heat/summer?

i sort of don't - i aim to grill or use the stovetop, and in the summer, we tend to use convenience foods so a lot is nuked.

yesterday, i baked cookies for my dad's bday gift and then cooked a full out dinner: chicken marsala, pasta and kohlrabi-carrot bake.

The kitchen was so HOT! I swear that end of the house was still warm around 11pm.

And DH joked that it was still hot this morning. I don't think he liked his a/c working overtime - haha! especially because I limited the # of cookies he could pilfer.

Re: do you use your oven often in the heat/summer?

  • No. Gets WAY too hot in here. If I really need to, I go next door and use my MIL's oven. LOL

OMG! way to funny!!! but i do not, we will grill every night or use the burner outside on the grill.

  • We try to limit use big time. Even with the central air the kitchen gets way too hot to have the oven on. We prefer to grill, use stove top or we've even used the slow cooker a few times.

  • No, I hardly ever use it in the summer.  We don't have central air and don't have a window unit in the kitchen.  I imagine it would be very miserable in there with the oven on.
  • Definitely try to avoid it in the summer.

  • I really try to avoid using it in the Summer.  Especially Queen Bee aka my MIL shares the kitchen with us and she b*tches.

I will be using it in the next week or so.  Hubby's b-day is Aug. 8 and I WILL be baking him a cake and cookies (his favorite things).  So she can bite me and go someplace else if it's too hot for her.

Dude. You are missing an opportunity here. If baking means she'll go away...

  • She gets all Drama Queen.  Runs out of the house crying "I can't breathe.  I can't breathe!"  Acts like she's gonna faint on the front lawn.

I know you're all laughing thinking I'm making it up.  But I'm not.  She did this just last summer.  In her night gown *still needs brain bleach to erase that memory* and cried and cried to anyone who would listen (which was one person) that we were trying to smother her.

Mind you, I was baking a cake for her son.

  • NEVER!!!  The oven is a big no-no in the summer in our condo.  Our place holds the heat enough without truly sweating ourselves out.

I've strictly been using the slow cooker and stove top.
