Weekend baking/cooking?

Did you make anything special this weekend? Share a recipe if you've got a winner.

Re: Weekend baking/cooking?

  • we made homemade pizza dough, marinara sauce, refried beans, bagels, focaccia bread, and brownies.
  • DH was gone this past week on business and came home late Sunday morning so I made a huge brunch and dinner for him to celebrate his return.

    Breakfast/Brunch was:
Vanilla French Toast, Scrambled eggs with Rosemary and Mozzarella Cheese, and Smoked Gouda Hashbrowns

    Dinner was:
Chicken with onions and hummus (sounds weird, but it amazingly good)
    Recipe here.

  • I made this on Friday:

Most of this weekend consisted of cleaning out stuff.

  • oh and I did a mixture of canned tunafish and some garlic hummus. It.was.awesome. I hate mayo and some times mustard tastes werid to me in tunafish but hummus is much better.

  • I tried yet another lemon bar recipe (this time Smitten Kitchen). I fudged a bit on the filling so it turned out sort of gummy in texture. I think I'm giving up on making lemon bars with lemons from our tree - the Meyers just aren't tart enough for me.

That sounds just weird enough to be delicous! Did you put it on a sandwich?

Yup. With some lettuce and tomato.

You can also use it as a spread on crackers too (which DH did).
