I am working on figuring out G's "schedule" for the fall and know that things fill up quickly, so I better do my research now. She is signed up for a beginners dance class, but REALLY wants to do gymnastics most of all. I want her to do it too, but don't want to spend a ton of money.
Just wondering what any of you have heard about local gymnastic classes, perhaps there are some I haven't looked into yet.
FWIW, we aren't going to do the Y, even though it is really cheap, b/c it is kind of disorganized. She loved it for little kids tumbling, but wants to do something more rigorous this fall. I've looked into chows, but I'm not willing to drive that far for that much money. I've heard mixed reviews about Jacobs and Saphire is just as close for the same $.
I think I'm leaning towards either Saphire or Mid Iowa, but I'd love to hear other opinions that you have or have heard?
Is there any great option out there like Just for Kix for gymnastics? I'm so impressed by how cheap it is for dance classes.
Re: tumbling/gymnastics ?
I am not sure what the name of the one in Waukee is, but my neighbor said when she took one of her daughters she spent as much time standing in line as she did on the equipment. She did drive her 5 year old to Chow's and didn't mind the drive, but that is her youngest and driving kids around is a lot of her day. Like you, I don't want to drive that far. I was going to look into the Urbandale one, but this is for G. I just want him to burn energy and work on a skill/ have fun.
PS - You posted about fall soccer. We are planning to do fall soccer for G. My neighbors recommended Menace Jr. Their oldest plays year round soccer and plays for them. I placed a call earlier today, but haven't heard back. Some of my other neighbors do the Urbandale League - not sure if they have a fall session or not. Grimes only has the indoor in late fall/winter, so we won't be going that route. Hopefully he can do soccer and then start a tumbling class. Not sure though if that will work out.
I have no insight on gymnastics as I was in competitive power tumbling so we will go that route instead of gymnastics if I can help it. For now I'm just teaching Sophia at home until I can get her in somewhere for tumbling.
Are you doing Just for Kix in Waukee, though? We have Sophia signed up and it would be awesome if you were!
I am absolutely zero help on this question. But some of the responses got me interested in looking into tumbling classes for C. I think he would like it since he somersaults (sp?) around our house all evening long.
What are the different options for tumbling in the area? We live in Clive so somewhere on the west side would be best and since the first session will be a trial run it would be nice if it was fairly inexpensive. The class would have to allow 2 years olds and would have to be held in the evenings. Does anyone have any recommendations that will help me narrow down my search?
