WHAT THE FVCK????

My brother and I are 17 months apart. We grew up together. I don't remember life without him. He went to school and is a sound engineer. He lives in LA and works "in the business." He's not one to date because he doesn't want to support anyone else. He doesn't want to have to think of anyone but himself. I'm glad he knows that and lives accordingly.

WELL - I just got a call. He's in Vegas. "Whatcha doing?" i ask. (He goes there with a band he's working for - he's there a LOT) "I'm just sitting here with my fiancee." Uh.... WHAT??

Turns out he met her on Monday. They "hit it off" and now they're getting married. In Vegas. Today.

"Here. Ya wanna talk to her?" WTF am i supposed to say? She was really nice but I'm super bummed out that I don't get to be there to see my brother get married. I just really hope things work out. There's a lot that goes into a marriage and I just worry that you can't really know someone after a week. (5 days) I told him I was happy for them, because I am. I want my brother to be happy. I just have some.... reservations?????

and I got this call between a million different calls that I've been making, fighting with people who owe me money and say they don't, or say they've already paid me. Urgh. What a weird fvckin day.

  • OMG!!  What did you say?  I know you're supposed to be happy & wish family the best, etc., etc., but I'm not sure I could keep my trap shut in this situation.  (Of course, I really DO wish him all the best but you know what I mean.)

Oh, Nancy.  Sorry about your day.  :(

  • Wow. I wish him the best but I would have been speachless too.

  • WOW!  Can you fly to Vegas for the weekend?  JK

That sounds like a TV show or something...

Hang in there, if your family is anything like mine, this might cause a few problems.  You're doing the right thing by being supportive and saying the right things:)

  • Is her name allison? My cousin is a stripper there. Just want to know if we'll be related or anything? :-)

Sucky for you! I can't imagine what your parents are going to say.

My parents just said, "we were surprised but we're happy for him."

My parents don't know how to react. They actually scheduled my dad to have a total knee replacement a few days before Amelie's baptism so they'd already be in town. Then they called and said they won't be coming to her baptism. Pretty sure they scheduled that so they could be here. They claim it's because they don't want to leave my grandma alone (who lives with them) but they're going to the reception of another shotgun wedding of an old family friend. So, the daughter of an old friend over--- their own granddaughter. Kind of like the year they decided they didn't need to see us for Thanksgiving.

They're so hands off. It's amazing any of us grew up with any sort of direction because it wasn't really taught.

It's very very likely. Shall I add some chairs for Thanksgiving??

Totally forgot the best part. When I called my mom and was like, "Uh, what?" She said, "Well, maybe she has insurance and Andy can get his knees fixed."

    INSURANCE!!!!

Yes, because all starving artists in Los Angeles have insurance. And that's why my brother would marry this girl. Insurance.

    whatthefuckeverdude

Haven't I said before that my parents don't know how to react? Like when I told them I was pregnant with Amelie instead of my mom saying congratulations or even smiling she turned my grandmother (who is hard of hearing) and YELLED, "IT'S AN ANNOUNCEMENT. AN ANNOUNCEMENT. HIS SHIRT. IT'S AN ANNOUNCEMENT!" When I could clearly see that Grandma already got it.

Oy. How am I even related to these people?

And now I'm just mad that none of us were included. This sucks. Guess it shows where we all stand with him.
