I just saw your post-sorry!

We moved when I was 2 weeks pregnant with #1 and bought a new house. We looked for: space for LO to play away from where our TV would be, a nursery big enough for 3 pieces for furniture and a play space, a guestroom that could fit a king bed-for visitors, formal dining room, quiet neighborhood, flat and fenced in backyard. some of them are very personal-we aren't big TV watchers, but we didn't want to have the "draw" of a TV in LO's play area, so we looke for a house with a finished basement for our den-we don't have a TV on the first floor.

My suggestions: make a list of your "must haves" and "want to have" items/features and go to a few open houses before you truly start looking. Also, find out what you are pre-aproved for with your mortgage. Finally, research school districts!

Good luck!

  • Awww!  Thanks for the response.

I never thought about the TV factor.  We aren't big TV watchers either.  I like the idea of a play area with no TV.

We've decided to wait until our house sells before looking.  We aren't going to put it on the market until the fall (after cleaning/ decluttering/ touch up paint).  So it may be a long time before we actually move!
