We went out to the cabin on Thursday night after work. This is what happened from there on out...
Thursday night: Saw that the dock was under 6" of water. Uh-oh!
Friday: Sat on the dock in the water in the sun. Very nice. The guys moved the boat lift closer to shore so the boat wouldn't float away.
Saturday morning: BAAAAAD storm. 4' waves on lake, lots of rain/thunder, intense wind.
Saturday afternoon: Assessed storm damage. Determined jet ski is ok, boat is ok, 2 dock pieces are ok, but 2 dock pieces are missing.
Dock pieces are moved. While moving, someone steps on submerged dock piece. Yay!! One dock piece still missing though.
Everyone dons a lifejacket and jumps in the water to try and find the other submerged dock piece. Hours later is it found in the opposite direction of where we thought it went. Ropes are attached to it and it is pulled out with the jet ski with minimal damage. Double yay!! It's really a miracle it was found!
The rest of the weekend continued with no more water/storm drama. Whew. We got lucky, some people had lots of damage. Major brownie points for my sister's boyfriend who found both submerged dock pieces. He saved my parents about $2,000! :-)
What a weekend!!!!!
Re: My weekend in pictures.
My dad was SO relieved.
I just can't believe how much water it would take to make the whole big lake rise about 12" in a week. That is a LOOOOOOOT of water.
