Any big vacation plans in the near future? We're going to go on a long weekend up to MI for our anniversary; friends are getting married up there so we decided to turn it into a trip. Our big trip for the year will be in Nov/Dec when we go down to Jacksonville, FL for Thanksgiving and then down to Orlando for some Disney/Harry Potter World excitement

What's the last thing you splurged on? This tough since I haven't splurged much lately since we're saving for a down payment for a house...but next week I'm going for full salon day with mani/pedi, highlights, haircut and blowout and an eyebrow wax, I can't wait!

If you won the lottery, say... $3.2 million after taxes, would you quit your job or keep working? I'd keep my job for a while and be more content and not as anxious to figure out what my next move would be; once we had kids I'd probably stop working until they went to school and then try and go back to working again, I need adult time.

Cubs or Sox? Bears Smile I'm not super big into baseball but I do usually cheer for the Cubs since my grandpa played for their field team when he was younger

Favorite place in Chicago for pizza? Gino's East hands down; deep dish, cheese, pan sausage and spinach...yum, yum, yum

What's the most you've ever spent on a pair of shoes? I'm cheap with shoes most of the time, I think the most expensive shoes I've bought were my tall black boots that were about $100 only because I need wide calf boots

What's your dream job?  I'd like to have my own family law firm some day or to be a judge in family court. Divorce and family issues have so affected my life that I really want to help other people who are dealing with the same situation.

    Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi

What was the hardest part about law school? I would have to say learning how to study and test take; it's a completely different format and required a lot more time than any other studying I had ever done. The worst part though, is having to take the BAR exam in order to get your license; weeks of studying, 2, 8 hours days of test taking and then you wait for results...it was the most horrific experience of my life.

What is the most random job interview question you've had? When I interviewed for a manager position at my university's fund raising organization they asked me "If you were an office supply what would you be?". My answer was a paper clip, because I can keep things organized and together but still be flexible...they offered me that job an hour after my interview was over Wink

Are you BOTB or BNOTB? Lamest answer ever but somewhere in between. Our best friends just had a baby and we're so in love with him and we're his godparents and he makes me want to have babies. However, there are just things that need to happen before we have babies (ie, Jay needs to quit smoking, I need to get my health/weight under control, we need to figure out our living situation and I really want to go to Italy). So, I guess I'm BOTBackburner.

What actress would play you in a movie? I think Katherine Heigel; even though we don't look very much alike, i just love her and think she'd do a great job portraying my personality

Nail and toe colors? my nails are bare because I chipped all of the polish off and my toes are Revlon Midnight Affair                             image

Worst part about law school? Aside from the previously mentioned test taking/studying patterns...Property, barf.

Best part about law school being over? No more 3-5 hour exams every 16 weeks, no more BAR Exam worries, no more school in general...after going to school for 22 years in a row (preschool through law school) in just happy to go to work.

How is Jay lately? Jay is great. He's really busy at work because the summer is just making all of the residents in his building go crazy and do things their not supposed to...like have sex in the building's theatre! Also, he's loving spending time with our godson which just makes this weird ticking noise come out of my uterus! Also, he's loving my mandatory furlough days because I've been taking them on Mondays (his main day off) so we've been getting to spend a lot of time together

How is the house hunt?  The house hunt is pretty; our down payment fund is steadily increasing every month which is awesome. We're now secretly talking to my mom about buying the house we're living in from them which is exciting. I lived there my whole life and I'd love to raise our family in the house I was raised in. But, we think my stepdad will be hesitant so if it doesn't work out we're going to really stop shopping in November.

Also, I'm going to overlook the fact that you said you were a Cubs fan in the interest of preserving our friendship! Whew, thank you. Wink

What's your dream job? I'll put my non-legal related dream jobs: Broadway musical diva extraordinaire (dream roles: Elphaba/Wicked, Lily/The Secret Garden, and Dorothy Brock/42nd Street) or a party planner which, in my mind, I would do with my best friend as my business partner and my SIL and MIL would be our caterer.

What's your dream vacation?I want to travel around Europe more than anything, but Italy is way, way up there. So, probably 3 weeks to travel around Italy and see art, go to historical places, drink wine and eat, eat, eat!

What's your favorite song right now? Right now it's the new Jason Derulo song "Don't Wanna Go Home". I definitely seat dance every time it comes on in the car!

What turns you on the most about your husband? The least? Physically: most, he's so strong and broad and burly; least, his teeth are pretty funky because he didn't have good dental care when he was younger. Personality: most, he's so funny and caring, he always wants to make me and others happy; least, he has time management issues, always late, under estimates how long things take to do, or says he's going to do something one day and then doesn't do it for 5 more days...drives me crazy! But, he's gotten a lot better since we first got together so I figure by the time we're 40 he'll be on my schedule Wink

Would YOU eat a live octopus for $1,000? The suction cup thing scared me too so probably not; I'd probably eat a dead one though...that's an extra $1000 in the down payment fund!

whats your favorite meal to cook? I'm more of a baker than a chef, so most things I make are relatively simple and not too exciting. I would say my favorite thing to make is my Lemon Chicken with Feta and Orzo, it's light and fresh and super easy to make and it always gets gobbled up really quick.

where is your favorite place to eat and what do you get there? A place called Cooper's Hawk Winery; the wines they have are amazing and the food is so delicious. Favorites include the warm pretzel bread they give, the fried green tomato BLT and their Chicken Saltimbocca...my mouth is watering just thinking about it

what chain/fast food restaurant would you never be caught dead in? Taco Bell, our closest family friend found a band aid in a taco from there once when I was like 10 and i have never eaten there since

are you currently reading any books? I'm just starting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; I didn't want to read until after I had seen both movies (which is what happened with the previous 6 books/movies) because I didn't want to be disappointed with the movies after loving the rest of them so much. The last book I read was "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest"; it took me a long time to get through and I needed a book break after it

you said you're saving for a house, what does your house HAVE to have? Space! I know that sounds silly but we lived in a 1 bedroom for 3 years and now have 2 families worth of stuff in one house, so I just want us to have room to expand and to each be able to have a little bit of space for ourselves.

what can it absolutely not have? tons of wallpaper!!!! Our first place had wallpaper on every wall in every room, including the bathroom! We never want to take down that much wallpaper ever again.

are you going to buy something thats move-in ready or a fixer-upper? Based on our price range it will most likely be a fixer-upper; plus, I'm quite particular about what I like and so is Jay so we'd rather but money into a place to make it what we want. If we buy my parent's house that we're currently living in we have big plans to knock out walls to make an open floor plan on the main level and expand the basement living area into a bigger family room, and adding on an addition down the road with 2 more bedrooms and another bathroom and turning the floor with the 3 bedrooms and bathroom on it now into a master suite.

  • imagekmo630:

How far away do you live from WI and why haven't we met yet :) ? My parent's have a house in Lake Geneva WI and it takes about and 1 1/2 to get there from where we live. I don't know why we haven't met yet! Next time the WI Niners decide to get together let me know, I'll make the drive; especially now that most of you have/are going to have cute babies for me to see Smile

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I tend to like to do things that take my mind away from what I do during the day all day aka listen to the terrible things parents do to their kids...so, I like going to movies/watching Netflix, sitting outside with our friends drinking beers and recently I started to get back into working out which has been a great stress reliever. I think once I've gotten myself into a physical state that I'm happier with I'm going to try and get back into doing musicals with our community theatre. I also love hanging out with our best friends and our godson and having dinner and game nights.

How many kids do you want to have? I honestly only want one, Jay wants 3. Like Mary said last week, Jay believes the compromise is 2 but we'll see. I grew up as an only child and I can't sing it's praises enough. But, I also had the bonus of having siblings that didn't live with me so i got the best of both worlds. We will have to wait and see.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Jay and I living in our own home, with one kid (maybe 2) and a bulldog named Tank. We'll have traveled a little bit here and there and really made our house a home. I would like to still be working for a government agency  (if I work for a gov't agency for the next 10 years the remainder of my student loans will be paid off for me!) but preferably doing more legal work and less scheduling

What is your favorite season? I like all of the seasons really, but I think fall edges out the others; perfect weather, football season, Halloween, Thanksgiving, preparing for Christmas, our anniversary (kind of) and the changing leaves are always so gorgeous.

Any regrets in life? Nothing really, I don't like to think in terms of regret. In my book everything happens for a reason. The one thing that I even come close to considering a regret is not going and studying in Rome while I was in college. I was home sick and wouldn't even think about going my freshman year and by the time I got over that my sophomore and was eligible to go I had already taken most of my pre-reqs that were available (only classes taught there were in philosophy, theology, art history, etc...) and I would have had to stay in my undergrad program an extra semester. I decided it was better to finish on time so that the rest of my life plan would be on track (law school, bar exam, etc...)

Free plastic surgery on body part of your choice: Would you partake and if so which part? Right now, no. I like all of my facial features and my bewbs are big enough. In the future, when I get down to my goal weight and can maintain it I would get a tummy tuck to get rid of loose skin and maybe do a tiny bit of lipo.

    If you could eat ANY meal right now, what would it be? The dinner from our wedding! It's the best meal I've ever had but I feel like I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I would have liked since, obviously, we had a lot going on. Potato leek soup, salad with dried cherries, Gorgonzola cheese, candied pecans and raspberry vinaigrette dressing, roasted chicken breast in a white wine cream sauce, filet mignon with a stout ale mustard demi-glaze, green beans with julienne red peppers and garlic mashed redskin potatoes and wedding cake Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}

If you could live anywhere in the world (finances and COL aside), where would it be? Honestly, I love living in Chicago and our families are here so i really don't want to live anywhere else. I think I might like to try living in Europe because there is access to so many other places that I want to go once you get there. Or, if finances are no issue as you say, I'd move to Orlando and work at Disney!

What is your favorite thing about living in Chicago?  Least favorite? My favorite thing is that there is always something to do. Some kind of festival, great theatre, more restaurants than I could hope to try in my lifetime, lots of sports teams (even if they're not good!), art, history, industry...just so, so much. Plus it's easy to get away from the city chaos by living in the suburbs like we do and then be able to go places to be outdoorsy and go camping and stuff. My least favorite is a toss up between high cost of living and crowds; I hate feeling crowded by people who have no idea what's going on and that happens a lot at events in the city.

Most random thing that you can see right now from where you are sitting: A faux wine list template that I've been working on today for the bridal shower I'm attending this weekend. It a list of 7 bottles of wine for special occasions that will come up in their marriage (honeymoon, 1st NYE, 1st married fight, 1st anniversary, new home and 1st baby(mommy/daddy-to-be)) and little poems that go with each one. My officemate has a windup toy penguin on his desk as well.
