Washing Pillows

I've been thinking it is time to wash my pillows and it made me wonder how often other people wash theirs.

Re: Washing Pillows

  • We wash ours about twice a year, however we just went and bought all new pillows. We do that every couple years since you do sleep on your pillow almost everynight

  • I wash mine about once a month, but we also have 12 pillows, so they're only slept on for about a week before they get washed, dried, and then put into a vacuum bag for several weeks.

I have really bad allergies, and I can't stand the allergy covers
  • I wash DH's about every two weeks, and I wash mine a couple times a year.
  • how do you wash a pillow?
  • We put our two pillows in the washer on each side and then wash them like normal on spin.  Then we dry them with tennis balls in the dryer.

  • I have been reading a lot of articles online.  It is best to wash them in very hot water with a very small amount of gentle detergent.  Then it is a good idea to put them in the sun to freshen them and help them dry out.

By the way, I don't recommend googling this subject.  I'm so grossed out now.

  • I don't wash them. I buy new ones every 12 months. (I have them covered in a protector that I wash every week.) Do you know how nasty pillows get?
I'm not crazy, I've just been a very bad mood for the last 40 years!
