*Marcy*

I saw your post about the ortho appointment, yay for no brace! How did it go with the cardio?

Re: *Marcy*

  • OMG yesterday was the LONGEST day of my life. Two hospitals in the same day with an infant should be an Olympic sport.

Yes, the orthopaedist says no palvic brace for Piper, which is a frickin god send. That thing looked like the biggest PITA ever. I have to have another follow up appointment with him in 8 weeks just to confirm that things haven't progressed.

Cardiologist confirmed that she does have a mild heart defect, but he fully expects that the small hole will close on it's own during her first year of life. No action is required and we just need a follow up appointment and echo done at 12 months.

Overall a damn near ideal outcome with both doctors.

We kept her in the Ergo yesterday and she slept through almost the entire day, however is threw off her meal and sleep schedule and last night was a NIGHTMARE, I'm damn near a zombie today.

It doesn't look like she's gaining much weight still. I had a lactation consultant out to the house and she's definitely eating and pooping enough. I definitely had to get off the fenugreek, it was causing extreme gas pains in myself (I almost called 911 because I thought I had a hernia) and also Piper. It's been out of my system since Saturday and she's like a whole new baby.

Everyone seems stumped at her lack of weight gain. I'm going to take her to be weighed again at the doctor on Thursday or Friday. She looks and acts extremely healthy, it all just doesn't make any sense to me. I'm just not sure what the next steps are going to be, I don't see any reason to supplement, but at the same time, why the hell isn't she gaining weight?

    Pam - I'm so sorry I haven't replied, I'm exhausted.

  • Well I'm so glad everything sounds ok. I was thinking about you both all day!

That is weird that she's not gaining weight, even though she's eating plenty. Maybe she has a high metabolism and needs to eat double? I obviously have no clue about these things yet. Stick out tongue Hopefully the doctor can give you some good advice.

Get a nap in some time today!

  • No worries! Glad that everything went good with both doctors. :) Yay for the fenugreek being out of your system.  Hopefully Piper starts gaining some weight now. It sounds like you two are doing everything right. Hang in there, mama. And let us know how the weigh in goes later this week.
  • So before we start supplementing with 50/50 bottles of breastmilk + formula, we're pumping for almost 48 hours to ensure she's getting in the ounces she needs.

I just wish she'd put on a few ounces so her doctors would get off my back. She's completely healthy, just not packing on the pounds. She eats well, her diapers are where they need to be....ugh....so frustrating.
