XP from D&R: Any ideas what I can use to make this?

We need to make the bed part of this.  We have a contractor putting in the supports.  I think the size we decided on for the actual bed part was 8x8.  There's little information on the article about this other than that it looks like they wet wood down to make the base.  DH & I aren't all that handy nor can I imagine wetting an 8x8 piece of wood down to make this.  Any ideas of something we could buy to use that's similar or something else we could buy to make it out of?

  • no idea, but that looks so cool!

  • Do you want to have it curved?

I think it might be more comfy to create a frame and then put a flat piece of plywood on top.  I would use a nice, soft cushion on top to make it more like a bed.

  • The base looks like a hammock made of slates, to me. I would look around at different style hammocks online and see if one fits the bill. :)
