F/U on Aunt's craptastic Friday

I got to talk to my aunt this evening concerning Prodigy. From what they can tell, the poor thing died pretty mush instantly, so that's at least a blessing that she didn't suffer. Her litter mate, Poncho, is the one that alerted my aunt and uncle about the accident, and ever since has been moping around. She said he won't lay in his crate anymore, and every time he goes outside, he starts to play like Prodigy will come running around the corner to join him, then stops and flops down looking depressed.

My uncle thought maybe a new friend would help get Poncho out of his funk, so they adopted another Blue Heeler pup - this one is a few months younger than Poncho. They've named him Popeye, and he looks like a mirror image of Poncho. He has an eye patch like Poncho, but Popeye's is on the opposite eye, and he has a dot on his back that is in the exact same spot, color, etc at Prodigy's was. I wish I had a picture of the little guy, but I didn't have my camera with me when we saw the little guy. Poncho spent all day facing Popeye, just barking at him, as if telling the new comer the rules of the house and whatnot.

Thank you for all the well wishes, thoughts, and prayers. I honestly think they're helping. My aunt seems to be doing better, as is my cousin, and Poncho's a tad more active, too.

Aw well I hope Popeye really helps Pancho get out of his funk. It's always a tough thing to happen, and it effects everyone in the family.

  • I hope Popeye helps the entire family (especially Poncho) to heal - it was so sad :(
I can't wait to see pictures as they grow!

  • Our next family book club meets at her house next month - I'll try to remember to shove my camera in my purse and get a few pictures. You'd love their house, too - sits back behind a grove of trees, and always reminds me of the opening chapter in "Rebecca". Really cool.
