Dumb Question - cutting fabric with Cricut
Do I just place the fabric on the cutting mat? Then cut? Do I need to adjust pressure? Does speed matter at all?

No, you need something for stability, iron on steam a seam or heat n bond. i think the settings i use are; regular (green) blade, depth 4 or 5, speed 3, pressure 4. download the cutting guide from above rubies studio, its free and a great resource. you tube has a ton of videos on cutting fabric, and here's a few links:
