So....lockout is over, but not all the news is good.
What do the raven's fans think of cutting heap, mason, gregg AND mcgahee?
do you think they'll re-sign any of them? Do you think they should?
Mella and any other eagles girls - did you see the rumours that they've been talking to Favre? Are you as disguisted with that idea as I am? I hate his old azz. But he's better than Vick (Anybody is better than Vick) But if it did happen he'd be replacing Kolb so we'd have a team where I hate BOTH of our QB's. Awesome. I don't think it's going to happen though. It seems like just talk.
Any other interesting football gossip? I never pay attention in the off-season, and particularly with the lockout i've been tuning out anything NFL related. Catch me up!
Re: Football anyone?
I am so stinking relieved that there will be a football season this year!! As an Alabama fan and a Saints fan I couldn't have been happier that Mark Ingram got drafted by the Saints...I was so worried for this year's rookies that their careers would get screwed up if there was no football this fall. Oh, and just a bit peeved that they all left college and still had eligibility. But I am so ready to see how Ingram does this year and could care less if we keep Bush. IMO he's over-rated and doesn't do enough to actually earn his paycheck.
Um, I have no interesting gossip. Like you I've just tuned it out until now. But I did go ahead and wash all of LO's Saints gear just to be prepared.
I can tell you we haven't broken the news to Tristan yet as he will be ver upset there is no Heap pr Mcgahee. These are his favorites and gosh darnit we just spent $60 on a Heap Jersey for him last Xmas.
With that said I really hope and think they will sign Heap back and hopefully Mcgahee.
My jaw fell on the floor last night when I heard about all of this.

All I've heard recently is the word "frenzy" when it comes to signing free agents. Apparently, everyone is overpaid now that there's an agreed upon salary cap so there are tons of FAs and an off-season's worth of trades are happening in a week. Exciting but kinda nerve-wracking.
I'm hoping McGahee stays for the selfish reason that I don't want to have to buy another jersey. Those things are expensive, they only make a handful of players in women's sizes and I only get to wear it a few times a year. I'm cheap and don't think I've gotten enough wears per $ out of Willis yet.

I've mentioned that I'm stuck on explorer here and can't get any spellcheck to work, right?
Or I did it on purpose! totally.

So....is it weird to wear a jersey of a player no longer on the team? Because if I had ever bought an eagles jersey it'd have been Akers, and he's not going to be an eagle anymore apparently. (another thing i'm pissed about) He's been my favorite Eagle since he started in 2000, so I'm pretty sure I'd still go ahead and wear it.
And my sister has a Westbrook jersey that she still fully intends to wear.
Are we just weirdos?
Is it ok if the player retired rather than getting traded?

Also - fun fact: Brian Westbrook owns a horse farm in Upper Marlboro.

Eh, it's a mixed bag--if the guy is still playing and just got traded, it's weird (Ravens example: I would side-eye someone wearing a Jamal Lewis jersey). If he retired and was an ok player or retired on the downward slope of his career, it's less weird but still out-of-date (Ravens example: Let's assume Ray Rice retires as a Raven with his current performance--wearing his jersey the following year or 2 would be out of date but not awful). It's even less weird to wear the jersey of a player who recently retired as a team hero (Ravens example: I fully expect Ray Lewis jerseys to populate the stands for years after he retires) If it's vintage, it's actually cool (There is no Ravens example just yet but if the Colts were still here, you bet your ass people would wear vintage Unitas jerseys to games).
Didn't know there were so many nuances to football fashion!!

You've never seen these:
I think they're totally strange, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

I have a tshirt that says "19 is better than 18" or something lol. I have to dig it out.
I dont' think there's anything wrong with wearing a jersey for a player who retired. Jerseys can get expensive!
That is why I tend to prefer generic football gear - tshirts, sweatshirts, etc. I have a few jerseys (one Heap, so sad and one Reed) and I'll probably get a Ray Rice one this year. I have a Manning jersey for Eli too and I'm glad I got that one and not a Burress one as I was tempted to do.
My H is big into wearing vintage jerseys (well not really like they are themselves 30 years old, but you know what I mean). He has jerseys of players who played back in the 70s and 80s when he was growing up.
I would feel kind of funny wearing a jersey of someone who just got traded to another team or something. This is always one of my fears when picking a jersey.
