i phone for the non-tech savy?

I am considering getting the i-phone.  I could get a refurbished one right now for $1 through my carrier but would have to get the data plan (12.99).  I am not super savy with technology.  Is it relatively user friendly?

I do not have an ipod.  Could this work as my music player? Anyone use it while working out with an action sleeve or is it too bulky?

Do you end up spending a lot on apps?  Are there free apps?

I think it would be helpful to have internet on my phone for work, travel, socializing, etc.

Re: i phone for the non-tech savy?

  • I find it very user friendly. I'm a Apple girl, so everything I own is apple. I only ever paid for one or two apps but it wasn't necessary. I mostly have the free stuff. I love the google maps app! It helped me get out of a bind a few times when I was totally lost (I travel for work). Yes, it also acts as an iPod and is lighter than my iPod.
  • Go for it.  It really is user-friendly.  I only had an iPod before, and now I can't imagine my life without my iPhone.

My iPhone IS my music player now.  I don't know about the sleeve because I never tried it, and I wasn't a fan of it with my iPod, but I think it was Kel who mentioned putting it down her bra, and that has been working for me!  Either that or I will put it in a pocket, and I have a bulky, childproof case on mine.

I only buy apps that I REALLY want, like Angry Birds and Bejeweled.  Everything else is free or really cheap - I don't think I've spend more than $0.99 or $1.99 on an app since I've had my 3Gs.  And a lot of apps have free versions, so you can give them a trial run before buying anything.  And apps often have reduced-price specials, so if there's one out there you really want, sometimes it will go on sale for as low as $0.99, or even free!

Like I said before, I can't imagine living without my iPhone.  It just comes in handy for so many things... oh yeah, it's a decent phone to boot!  ;D

  • I think I want to get one.  I just want to make sure I could still get my rate on the data plan.
