Hello fellow runners!
1) How did last week go?
2) Whats the plan for this week?
3) Ask any question you wish!
Re: Runners Check in!
1) Last week I only got one run in because I had family come into town.
2) I plan to run 4.5 tonight and another 3 tomorrow. With family in town for the next 2 weeks.. its hard to have the energy to go running in the mornings. I'm so busy!
3) So.. I dunno if any pregnant runners are reading this thread, but I have a couple questions.
- Did you just wear your normal running clothes or did you reach a point where you had to buy bigger sizes? I don't see a lot of maternity running clothes.
- Did you wear a support belt? If so, when?
- What was your running schedule like? (ie. how many miles per long run, per week). I'm maxing at 6 miles for a long run (keeping running time no more than an hour). I just set an arbitrary limit I guess and I'll see how long I can keep it up.

1) Last week we did our benchmark run again. I improved my 1-mile time from 12:27 (8 weeks prior) to 11:27! A whole minute improvement!
My knee pain is now gone... but in it's place is pain in my Achilles tendon on the right leg!
2) We're supposed to be running hills tonight. I'm trying to decide if I'll go. I don't want to further injure my Achilles. But I also don't want to miss training this week since I'll be on vacation all of next week.
3) I'm currently learning about nutrition. What kinds of things do you like to eat/drink before, during and after a run? And what doesn't work well for you?
1) How did last week go? I ran once last week...my first run back and it felt good!
2) Whats the plan for this week? I want to run twice this week and keep them short. I'm starting slowly.
3) Ask any question you wish! No questions this week. I think I'm over my negativity towards running and am feeling energized again. T and I are splitting a half marathon in October and I'm signed up for 3 5k's over the next three months. And I'm (gasp!!)looking forward to them!
Amy and I have the same update! Although I am thinking about jumping back to the half marathon distance.....we will see!
Glad to hear I am not alone. I know you can do long distances K! I just don't have the heart to do it. I think 9 miles is my max.
For what its worth, I think you can do it A
Both of you just need to sign up for a race and that will push you to get back into things. At least, thats what always works for me. If I don't have a race to look forward to or train, I can get lazy sometimes.

Thank you, T. I think you are right. I have not signed up for a race since March so maybe looking into a fall race might be it. I would love to do this one. It is the same day as the RnR.

Know of any other fall races?
Besides RnR, there is the Silicon Valley Half/Full. There are tons of races (5K, 10K) at Stanford during the fall too (I did the Habitat for Humanity one and the MS one). Looks like there is a half moon bay half too (Sept). I typically do RnR and then don't do another half until the new year and then pack them in the spring/summer. I'd LOVE to do Big Sur someday though (Nov time frame). Maybe next year...

I like to eat an english muffin with peanut butter before a race. I also would drink Diet Coke and water. I need the caffeine pre-race usually. During the race, I use Luna Moons about very 45-60 minutes. Typically for a half, I will eat them at 6 miles but on sluggish days I will eat 2 packages if I need to or eat one earlier. For food after a run.. it depends on how far I went. With long runs, I need to eat soon after I run or I will get sick. So anything 9+ I for sure need to eat. 6-8, not always. That was a strange one for me because usually the point of my runs was to burn more than I consume, but you have to refuel your body when you do those long runs even though it seems backwards. I can't do eggs or much fruit pre-run.

1) How did last week go? Good--I have been upping my mileage--was running 6 miles/4 days a week, and now doing 7.5-8/4 days a week...not for any particular reason other than I've been getting up earlier and figure why not.
2) Whats the plan for this week? Did 7.5 yesterday, 8 today...maybe another 7.5 on Friday and then 10 on Sunday?
3) Ask any question you wish! Very interested in the answers to Tonic's question!
ps: re: upcoming races in the Bay--I don't think the ones I am racing were mentioned, so here are some more options: the NorCal 1/2 Marathon in San Jose on September 17...the US Half in San Francisco in November...also looking at one in SLO in October (City to Sea)--who can resist a trip to SLO?
1) How did last week go? Last week kinda sucked. I did more interval training and got really discouraged at how tired I got. But my last run, I skipped interval and felt much better and ran longer2) Whats the plan for this week? I was going to run yesterday and swim today, but skipped yesterday...so run today, and hopefully one more time before we leave for the weekend.3) Ask any question you wish! How do you get out to run when feeling super unmotivated? I've been feeling this lately, even though I know it's good for me. Dani-Super Thumbs up!!! on the shaving a minute off your mile!!!
