Social Media Support Escalations team at Sears.
Interesting...
I think it is necessary in this day and age (Twitter, FB & other sites like this) to have employees scouring the random pages for issues such as this that need resolution.
My company doesn't have a Social Media Support Escalations team, to the best of my knowledge, but we must have some sort of program/people looking for our company name because a few years ago, I emailed a customer and he cut & pasted my email directly to his psuedo-blog. For what reason, I don't know. But my manager got a call from our HO to bring this to his attention & figure out what was going on.
This has been in place by a few companies for years but I think some companies are only catching on.
When the Barbed Rose came on here in April and said thanks when I issued them kudos, some Houston Nesties said it was creepy and weird but I don't see how it's any different from what Sears did - it is using social media to finally have 2-way marketing channels for driving PR and marketing initiatives. In the past they had to do consumer taste tests, focus groups, etc. which are all expensive. Most marketing is 1-way - from them to us. But social media tools and technology like google alerts helps them turn that around.
That is another reason FB has so many fishing features to try to get your "private" information. Companies want to tailor their key customers' experience so by using technology to find people that post about them, follow them, use products they sell, etc. they can tap into their key target market.
That said, I don't want to be overly sold to and will follow a page if I'm their fan so I lock down my FB. =D
