So... that $50 I won from E? Yeah. Went to the new Joann's near me last night and ended up spending $100 on a knitting book, some other necessities, and a TON of fabric. This new store is dangerous. Talk about doubling... I shop like Jax! But E was with me and cool with it.
Re: oops
Oh I love me some JoAnn's!
What sort of things do you make or do with your fabric?
Semi-related, a Hobby Lobby is opening by us. I'm not crafty, but will check it out bc I hear good things about this store.
Joann's is freaking awesome. There was previously only one anywhere near me, more than double the distance of this new one. And it was tiny and cramped and had half the stock. This new one is gorgeous and huge, bright and open. I've never even seen a Hobby Lobby, none in NJ.
I have a ton of projects in mind. Our luggage is shot, and I realized when we went to MA a couple weeks ago that I don't have any great overnight bags. So I found a pattern online for a small duffel bag. E lobbied for this fun penguin fabric for that. I think I got enough for 2. And I need both a sewing machine cover and a bag for knitting projects. Also, I saw a tutorial for turning old jeans into skirts by using the top of the jeans and some knit fabric added on, so I got some great purple knit to take a worn, torn pair of jeans and try that. I also.want to make "quiet books" for each nephew for their 2nd birthdays... so 3 of those (one for the honorary nephew). Those are the books that teach kids how to button, zip, tie bows, use velcro, etc. Remember them?
So... lots to do!

These sounds interesting. Do you have a tutorial on how to make these? I'd like to make some for my nephews and Charli, eventually.

I could spend my entire paycheck in Hobby Lobby, no joke. Not only do they have crafts, but they have decor too. That's my weakness since I'm not so crafty.
Our Joann's is pretty small and I never find anything I need there. But look at it this way, at least the first $50 was kind of like "free" money since you already had it tagged to spend, right? So really you only spent $50!

Ha, that is true of what E said! I never thought of it like that!
I've found some really good deals in JoAnn fabrics when I used to live near one. The one that I like to go to is a good hour away now
I've never seen a Hobby Lobby.
Almost forgot, quiet book:
