Maternity clothes vent!

I just came back from shopping for a few pieces that I needed and I have to say, maternity clothing is mostly so fugly! The bigger I get, the harder it is to find things that make me still feel/look cute.

Why do maternity designers think tent-like dresses and ultra baggy shirts in ugly prints are flattering? Most things I tried on today are so ill-fitting...just cut so terribly. Not to mention, there is hardly any variety of stores to choose from.

As as side vent, apparently cashiers don't know what to do when you pay with gift cards anymore.

Ok...I'm done now:)

Anyone else have a vent about shopping or anything else? :)

  • My Blackberry decided to die last night.  With some major IT help it has been resurrected, but still refuses to connect to our enterprise server.  WTF.  No point in having a BB if I can't email on it.  Also, it is required for my job, and 2/3 of my bosses are OOO today, so it really needs to work.

  • I looked like a tent in everything I wore.  I have no complaint about maternity clothes because I dress like a scrub non-pregnant lol.  It was a good excuse to wear extra comfy clothes :)

I mean, I know I don't dress as refined as I could, but at least with maternity clothes I LOOKED good... yeah, sure, I had a huge belly, but the clothes are cut with that in mind, so for once, I looked like I was wearing something that fit rather than trying to squeeze into something that didn't.

  • I've been a big fan of Old Navy maternity clothes. Have you looked there?

Not really. The ON close to me doesn't have maternity. I'm too hesitant to buy from them online because their sizing tends to be unpredictable on me:(

  • I got a few things from ON (online). Sizes run big. Size small is still big on me and I'm 38 weeks and about 160 Lbs. They are comfortable though. I got a few basic pieces from Motherhood. My favorite pieces are from Ann Taylor Loft (online). Forever 21 also has some cute pieces.
  • We had to buy a new toilet and the new one we got isn't working well either.  Can you picture someone returning a toilet to Lowe's? lol. I don't think we will need to, I think it might can be fixed.  It's just annoying in the meantime.
  • Not clothes/shopping related, but I took Buddy to the vet Monday night. I think he needs to go to a Canine Good Citizen course or something, because he's so sweet until you throw strangers and their dogs into the mix. Granted, he wasn't feeling well, but it's so embarrassing when your dog just keeps barking and growling and freaking out the other dogs.

So I took him outside for awhile until there was only one guy and his dog. Then this lady and her son (I'm guessing--he was 10-12 yrs old) came to pick up one of the vet techs. I had Buddy sitting next to me and he was still kinda growling, so this kid thinks it's okay to harass my dog. He stands next to the counter and starts making kissing noises to call the dog to look at him. Now Buddy's hackles are up and he's seriously growling at this kid. So the kid turns around and I'm thinking he's gotten the picture. So I put Buddy back onto the floor and he calms down a bit. Kid thinks this is the time to pet my dog. He walks over to about 10 feet away from us and Buddy lunges at him barking and growling.

Seriously, kid? You are at a veterinarian's office with a bunch of dogs you should ASSUME aren't feeling well. So what makes you think that walking up to an ill, strange dog is a good idea?? And his mother didn't say a damn word to him to leave my dog alone. Even though it would have gotten us in trouble, Buddy would have been in his right to bite the little bastard.

  • Ugh I hear you! I mostly just wore regular clothes in a bigger size but it was also winter and I was able to wear dresses as tops lol. Nothing fit me right either because my belly was huge but my boobs and arms weren't so everything just fit funny.
Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

  • I seriously got lucky I could wear a lot of my clothes longer times due to the way my belly was- I hated shopping for them. I felt everything looked like a tent on me. I did have some luck at old navy for jeans but I mostly shopped at GAP.

My vent for the day- Charlotte is being a royal handful and Mark is in Boston for work until Friday night. My  friend is singing the National Anthem on Friday at the game and now I have to wrangle Charlotte in 97 degree heat at 7pm for a ball game by myself until Mark gets home at 9pm. He is supposed to meet us at the game. I am hoping for a cool wave or I am going to die!

I hope Charlotte (and the hot weather) gives you a break! That does not sound like fun times. I hope Josh will travel less once the baby is here:/

  •   A bit late on this but I really started utilizing Target around month 7.  They have really cute flowy jeweled and sequined tank tops that looked great with leggings.  I found that a lot of their clothes ran large and their styles were very belly friendly yet didn't look like maternity.
