Job Options?

I am currently a paralegal. I have always worked in firms that are smaller (no legal research skills to put on resume). I am taking classes to enter nursing. I'm am looking for a new job. Besides legal secretary/paralegal or medical secretary... does anyone have any other suggestions?

I am willing to take a step back (even a pay cut). There is no room for advancement where I am now. We will be having out pay cut and I have not and will not gain any new skills. My last job provided me with more skills and I don't use any of them here.

  • I'd actually recommend getting a job at a hospital, even if it is as an admin.  I think getting your foot in the door and meeting people will help you tremendously when you're done with nursing school.

  • Hospital! Lots of shifts, lots of positions, and maybe they will help with tuition costs.

If I were the employer, I would not be as interested in hiring you knowing you are going to leave when you start nursing school.

Why not stay at the current job if you are starting school in another year or two? (Suck it up if the job is kinda okay?)

No, sucking it up isn't possible. Not when you will be taking a 30% decrease in pay along with other issues. In addition to paying double taxes and my job giving me a difficult time about everything.

No matter what I must work and go to school - prefer PT school and FT work. Right now I work PT and FT and go to school PT. I am taking pre reqs and have been for two years. I will be applying to nursing school in the next 4 months. IF I get in since programs are competitive I will start either May or August of next year, depending on the school. Either program would take 2 years to complete.
