Do you have any hidden talents? I am awesome at hula hooping and balancing a broom on my finger. Maybe I should try doing them at the same time...
What is one thing not many people know about you? I have a double-uvula (the hangy-ball in the back of your throat).
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? A couple years ago I was mugged at gunpoint behind my office. I wasn't scared at the time (too much adrenaline I guess), but I broke down after I got back into my office.
Do you have any phobias? Rats, mice, etc. ::shudder::
What is your favorite place on earth? It's so cliche, but definitely Disneyland! (My home would be my second favorite.)

Do you have any hidden talents? I can write with my toes? They are very strong-- I can pinch people pretty hard with them too.
What is one thing not many people know about you? I used to have a mole on my face as a kid that was massive... the doctors wanted to cut it off my face as a kid but it would have left a scar down my left side (from my eyebrow down to the chinbone area). As I've grown, it's shrunk and it's barely there anymore. (that's the lamest thing... I couldn't think of anything good).
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? I was just leaving a marketplace in Jerusalem when two suicide bombers blew it up. I was already out safely but a few of my friends were still inside. Trying to get a phone call out to my parents to tell them I was safe was probably the one thing I will never forget-- I left the most horrific message on my dad's work voicemail.
Do you have any phobias? I have an abnormal fear of windmills-- I love the concept but they freak me out-- for some reason it reminds me of Children of the Corn. I also freak out with centipeds but am fine with almost any other insect. It's the legs/ skeletal body.
What is your favorite place on earth? Maine/ Sebago/ most coastal areas of Maine in general...
oh my gosh, Magda!!

Do you have any hidden talents? hm. I can still (well before getting pregnant) do a round-off back handspring. About the only trick from my gymnastics days that I still have the confidence to attempt.
What is one thing not many people know about you? I was a 5-time state and 3-time New England long jump champion in high school. I also held the state long jump record for a few years
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? not really *my* life, but my dad was flying on 9/11 and his plane departed Boston directly behind the second plane that hit the towers. He flew over NYC in between the crashes (when they still thought the first was an accident) and could see the smoke and flames coming from the WTC. He was diverted to Atlanta when flights were grounded and it took him almost a week to get home since he had to get a car and drive. I've never been so scared in my life.
Do you have any phobias? guns and bats (the animal, not baseball)
What is your favorite place on earth? Italy. If I have to get specific, probably the Amalfi coast.
Do you have any hidden talents? None that I can really think of. I do know how to crochet, but not well!
What is one thing not many people know about you? I did ballet for 11ish years, but I think most of you know that!
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? At first I couldn't think of one... but 2 Christmas ago, I was heading to pick up M from work, an 18 wheeler blew a tire and jack knifed (sp?) two lanes over from me (I was in the middle lane, he was in the slow lane on the right). It was as if time slowed down, I came inches from the median sidewall as I moved to the far left lane as the front end of the truck came inches from me as it turned sideways. I remember looking in my rear-view mirror and the truck was still moving and taking up all 6 lanes, there were no cars behind me for a while. I was freaked out, and as soon as I got to M work I just got in the passengers seat.
Do you have any phobias? 100% spiders, just the thoughts makes me shiver.
What is your favorite place on earth? Do I have to pick just one? I would go back to South Africa in a heartbeat...
Do you have any hidden talents? I can touch my tongue to my nose!
What is one thing not many people know about you? I'm actually more insecure than most would believe. I think I do a pretty good job of covering.
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? Nope.
Do you have any phobias? Bees. It's an unhealthy and completely inappropriate reaction to them... to the point that Jason forgets that I'm NOT allergic to them.
What is your favorite place on earth? The cottage. My parents bought the house on the lake almost 20 years ago and it's the place where I spent every summer growing up. It's also where JP and I ended up getting married!
My dear friend is not allergic to them either but has a completely insane reaction to bees. She cannot drive with the windows down because she fears that she would flip out and lose control while driving. She will leave the house as soon as a bee is in it and call anyone and everyone in hysterics until someone will come over and kill it. I told her she's going to be in trouble when she has her baby-- she literally drops whatever is in her hands and runs...
What is one thing not many people know about you? I was once chased by a buffalo
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? Besides the buffalo?
Um, I was in a really bad car accident and had to be cut of of my car in 2005. That was scary. DH was in his car right behind me and saw the entire accident.
Also, when I was really little we lived in a duplex - our neighbor was crazy (she really was). She thought she heard a noise out in her garage so she lit a candle, then when into the garage to check it out. (NOTE the light switch was 6 inches from the door handle and the light worked.) When she was in the garage she heard the noise again and then dropped the candle into her paper recycling bin and started that on fire (NOTE the bin was right next to the gas tank of her car). The garage, kitchen, and part of her living room started on fire. Since it was a duplex, her garage was attached to ours and her kitchen was attached to my bedroom. Luckily the fire department responded and got us out before it could spread to our side of the house.
Do you have any phobias? Nothing that I can think of.
What is your favorite place on earth? Hmm, Spain is pretty high up on my list and tied with NYC.
Do you have any hidden talents? not really.
What is one thing not many people know about you? i had my naval pierced for about 8 yrs. that's not very exciting though
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? hmmm...when i was in college, the first time i drove my car down i hit some gravel on the side of the road (i kind of think i dozed for a second, but i am not sure). I was in rural Alabama driving a tiny VW fox. We (a friend was driving with me) swerved across the road like 4 times before landing (unhurt) in a ditch. There was a tractor trailer behind us. A few inches or a second in any direction and we would have been killed for sure.
Do you have any phobias? bees, omg. And falling (heights i am fine with).
What is your favorite place on earth? someplace warmDo you have any hidden talents? I can wiggle my ears, I can raise one eyebrow
What is one thing not many people know about you? I played the cello in middle school/early high school and I'm still sad I ever quit, I was pretty good.
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? On a snow day in college, me, DH (then bf), some of his friends, and 3 of my roommates piled into his and his friend's trucks to go sledding at his parents house. As we were driving back into town (ILs live 20 min outside of town on a bunch of land), we hit an icy patch going 40 mph, couldn't slow down and almost slid into a big sand truck, I was convinced we were going to die.
Do you have any phobias? Snakes....UGHHHHH. I hate them!
What is your favorite place on earth? I think the most amazing thing I've ever experienced was on our power-boat trip in the Exuma islands in the Bahamas. Our boat dropped anchor in the middle of freaking nowhere and we got to spend an hour on a sandbar in the middle of the ocean. It was ahhhhh mazing, I have never been so relaxed. I hope we get to do something like that again one day!
Do you have any hidden talents? Nope. I'm pretty lame.
What is one thing not many people know about you? I was on Poms all through HS. (Captain for the last 3 years) and was the first person ever at our school to make Varsity for the first time as a SR. I had only taken 2 dance classes my entire life and other girls who had been dancing forever didn't make it. I was pretty proud.
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? Thankfully nothing I can think of.
Do you have any phobias? Clowns. There is a girl on NBC who has the clown from IT in her siggy and it scares the shiit out of me everytime I see it.
What is your favorite place on earth? This is going to be totally cheesy and mushy but laying on the sofa snuggling with Jeff. I feel safe and happy like all the bad disappears for a while. If you are looking for a vacation place as an answer I LOVED Bar Harbor, ME and the Outer Banks, NC.
Do you have any hidden talents?um, not really.

What is your favorite place on earth? Loved Melbourne and could see myself living there. We also loved Kauai, but I don't think I would live there. Great vacation island though.
Mine still is. I haven't taken it out and probably won't until I get pregnant again. I don't think it's cool or anything anymore...it's just been a fixture on me for so long.
CRAFTY ME
my read shelf:
Do you have any hidden talents? I could write short stories pretty well. I haven't done so since my very first college English class. In fact I was recently considering trying to get my short story I worte for that class published in a military magazine. It's about my expereince in bootcamp and becoming a Marine.
What is one thing not many people know about you? I was born in NY.
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? When I lived in NC I swore that I would die driving on the roads during winter. For awhile we lived in a backwoods area and the roads weren't plowed. It was pretty treacherous. I got stuck, slid, went off the road, etc. I swore one day the worst would happen.
Do you have any phobias? Driving in the snow. See above.
What is your favorite place on earth? Hawaii

What is one thing not many people know about you? I'm (almost) tri-lingual. I'm fluent in all aspects of English and French, and I read/understand and can say some important phrases in Italian. But I'm pretty sure you all knew that already!
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? No.
Do you have any phobias? Spiders. And I'm afraid of the dark (yeah, I know it's lame!!)
What is your favorite place on earth? Rocca Pia, Italy. It's the tiny mountain town where my dad was born. It's sooo high in the mountains, and it is just gorgeous.

What is one thing not many people know about you? I'm pretty much an open book, so I can't think of anything interesting. Edit: Ok, after reading through others' answers I thought of something. I almost joined a professional marching band in the NFL about 5 years ago (Baltimore Ravens). I decided my weekends with B were more important, since we were in a long distance relationship and that was the only time I saw him.
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? I was driving down 295 in South Jersey on my way to my new apartment in Baltimore. I was a little bit behind a pickup truck that had wood barrels in the back; it hit a bump and one of the barrels came out and started bouncing down the highway. Every time it hit, it would bounce in a different direction, so it was hard to anticipate where I needed to be (speed was probably 75 mph). Because I attempted to switch lanes back and forth several times at a high speed, I ended up going into a spin. Everything slowed down and I somehow managed to get to the shoulder and straighten out and come to a stop. I was perfectly parallel to the highway in the middle of the shoulder when the car finally stopped. I had to get B (who was in the moving truck a couple of miles behind me) to pull over and calm me down, I was such a basket case. I have no idea why I was able to do that, and why there happened not to be any cars on the road behind me long enough for me to get over.
The other time was when I was awaiting for results to come back regarding a tumor when the doctors were trying to determine if I had bone cancer. I was 22.
Do you have any phobias? snakes! Although I have a good reason for that - there was a baby fer de lance in my bunk in a biology station in Costa Rica. They're a very deadly snake.
What is your favorite place on earth? Acadia National Park in ME

Do you have any hidden talents? None that I can think of that are super cool. I can roll my tongue, wriggle my ears, and I'm double jointed in my fingers.
What is one thing not many people know about you? I graduated HS at 16 and started community college right away. I had two associates degrees at 19. Of course, I think you all know this by now. :P My first cat's name was Fraggle after Fraggle Rock. Oh, and I used to have my nipples pierced (I took them out just before our wedding) and it's actually helped with BFing.
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? Yes, when I was 13 I had Rocky Mtn Spotted Fever and was so sick. By the time my mom took me to the doctor I was in and out of consciousness b/c my fever was so high. They called the hospital and told my mom to take me straight there to be admitted. I was in the hospital for 5 days over 4th of July getting medicine to save my life. One night my fever was 105 and the nurses were going to call my parents to come say goodbye to me until it finally started to go down. I remember the horrible headache...it was so bad that in my delirious dreams I dreamt I found a pillow that would make the headache go away every time I laid on it. I also had a rash over my entire body (not like the Lyme Disease bullseye, it was splotches) and when I was discharged I weighed only 94lbs. I also feared for my life when skydiving, but that's a whole different story!
Do you have any phobias? snakes.
What is your favorite place on earth? Home in our king size bed snuggling with my two favorite people (A and M) with our doggies on their beds beside us. Bonus: rainy day and cheesy movie on TV that we all fall asleep to.
I just thought of a much better/happier answer for the second question.
What is one thing not many people know about you? I was Academic All-American for Basketball in College.
Do you have any hidden talents? Not that I can think of...
What is one thing not many people know about you?
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? Not that I can think of...
Do you have any phobias? I have an irrational fear of Bees. I can handle it if they are on a flower doing their thing, but if they are flying or anywhere near me I feeze. I can't handle the sound of the buzz it really freaks me out. I also don't like spiders but I don't freak out over them anymore.
What is your favorite place on earth? In the middle of the Massai Mara in Kenya. Seriously the most beautiful place I have ever been.
Do you have any hidden talents? nothing I can think of.
What is one thing not many people know about you? hmmm. oh geez, I don't know. I can't whistle.
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? sort of, but not really. Riding a bus in Ecudaor to another town, along a route that was previously closed due to washouts on the road/mountain etc. I was afraid we'd fall off the side of mountain and die!
Do you have any phobias? no. there are things I don't like, but nothing I couldn't handle.
What is your favorite place on earth? Yellowstone National Park

I'm really late, but I said I'd participate so...
Do you have any hidden talents? Not really a talent, but I think I can sing pretty good. I used to sing often when I was younger, but not so much anymore.
What is one thing not many people know about you? I have a temper. I'm a very nice person, and am nice to everyone, but I get aggrivated easily and can get angry at people. This mostly happens to my husband more than anyone though.
Was there ever a time you were frightened for your life? No, thankfully not. I'm a pretty anxious person, so I freak out easily, but never feared for my life.
Do you have any phobias? Too many to name. Like I said, I'm a very anxious person (mainly why I don't participate here much) so many thing scare me. My greatest phobia is closed in spaces (don't fell like using actual terms, lol). I was more afraid of going into labor because I knew I HAD to ride the elevator, crazy huh?
What is your favorite place on earth? I havn't been many places, but so far I love being in the mountains. I love the look of nature, not so much being outside, just looking at it. Last spring we rented a cabin for a week, and I never wanted to come home. I just wanted to sit on the porch and look at the mountains in my view.
