Restaurant Recs? (NW Metro)
My dad is coming to town this weekend, and is staying at our new house. He wants to take us to dinner Saturday night, and asked me to pick a place. I'd prefer to avoid all the big chain restaurants if possible. H and I love to try new places, and I think I've gotten that from my dad
Kind of up for anything, cuisine-wise, but preferably somewhere we can get a good glass (bottle?) of wine. We're in BP, so anything in the Maple Grove/Brooklyn Park area is perfect. Does anyone have any awesome recommendations?
ETA: Not super concerned with the prices, but it doesn't have to be anything fancy schmancy either.

I've heard good things about Biaggi's in the Maple Grove/Arbor Lakes area (right by Trader Joes/Borders). It is a chain (one in Maple Grove, one in Eden Prairie), but alas. We have a couple friend who have gone there repeatedly on their "fancy" date night.
La Cucina (off West Broadway in Robbinsdale) looks nice. They have a six page wine list! And, it doesn't look like there are a chain...
Let me know where you end up going!
ohh I'm saving all of these ideas! I'll shoot the links over to my dad and see what he thinks
I'll let you guys know where we went up going.
Anyone else have suggestions too?

Steph0871 - You're a St. Paulite like me! We're so spoiled by all the non-chain restaurants!
Are you hoping for a rec in a certain suburb? Lots o' chains in MG area...Pittsburgh Blue is a Parasole restaurant (Chino Latino, Cafeteria, Muffaletta, etc) so you know at least that they do pretty well for what they are though I'd probably do the P.F. Chang chain over PB anytime.
oh! I've been recommended Mad Jacks before too. I forgot about it. I'll add that to my list

I know! H and I lived in St Paul for the last two years. I loved it. Speaking of which... how do I change my location on here? anyone know?
I should have clarified 'Chain restaurant' better. I just don't want to do like an Outback, TGIFridays, etc. I really really love Muffaletta though

I live in thea rea you're wanting to eat in and I agree with all the recommendations except Biaggis's. I'm pretty sure this is just personal preference though: DH and I have been there twice and were unimpressed with food as well as service. I've heard from others that its great and I know they have a decent wine list.
I'll add one recommendation for sushi and hibachi: http://www.kobemn.com/
Its on Hwy 55 in Plymouth and soo good. Its one of our favorite places.

Not sure how to change your location -
Figured you meant the real chains - Applebees, TGIF...
The parasole company does very well for themselves - they know how to get people in and eat. Muffaletta is good! If you ever want a good brunch-head over to Bon Vie off Selby..so good!
