WDW Military tickets

We are planning a family vacation to disney world sometime next year...

I was just wondering if anyone has bought the Disney world "hero salute" tickets for their parents? I wasn't sure if it was just for dependents or not.

Then I read as long as the active duty member is present then you can buy up to six for family, friends, etc.

Just wondering if anyone's actually done this?

Re: WDW Military tickets

  • I believe Smiles did this recently. She's not on very often anymore but if you page her she'd probably come tell you about it.

  • We've done it. Basically you buy the tickets on post or at Shades of Green. They're not activated until you get to the park.  The active duty service member (I'm not sure if a dependent ID card would work in this instance) must be with all members of your party when they activate your tickets at the TTC. Once the tickets are activated, your family members can come and go as they please, it's just that they have to be with you guys for the initial activation.

  • Yes, you can purchase them for any family member. Also, you don't have to buy the tickets on post or at Shades of Green. You can buy them at any Disney park. We were just at Disney World and bought our tickets in front of Magic Kingdom at the ticket window.

Oh that's good! They weren't available at the ticket window when we were there and it was such a pain trying to figure out how to get to SoG without a car!

  • thanks..that will save my parents lots of $$ that way. I just thought each person had to have a military ID to activate the tickets. Then I was reading the conditions which made me question it...thanks again!
