Buzz, Dec, MrsReem (or other moms of almost 4 yr olds)
We are heading to California soon for BIL's wedding. I need something besides a DVD player to keep Ava entertained. The girl could seriously watch movies for the entire 8 hrs we are traveling but clearly that is not a good idea. Do any of you have any Leap Frog type either reading or game systems? I am willing to buy one as an early birthday present but I want to make sure she will understand how to use it.. Since all of our kiddos were born within a few months of each other, I figured I'd see if you had any experience. Which "electronic entertainment" thing does your child have and do they like it? (more importantly, do they understand how to play it?)
Thanks!
Mommy of 3!

Maya doesn't have a game system, but she does have a Leapfrog Scribble and Write that she used for the majority of a 2 hour car ride over the weekend. We got it for her for Christmas and she really loves it. She also has a Tag Jr and that keeps her interested for quite a while too. She's moving on from a lot of board books, so I'd like to upgrade her to the next one soon. Aside from those things, she has some apps on our phones that hold her attention as well. She uses all of them with ease!
We have a leappad but she's lost interest in that so Ana uses it.
We have a tag jr and she still plays with that and has fun with it, knows how to use it, etc. However, I've been contemplating a regular tag reader as I see they have a Tag "I spy" book and katen loooooves finding the objects in I spy books. I think they're on sale at Target or at least they were in the last target coupon mailer that came in the mail.
Actually the other video game -like leapfrog things had coupons for them also.
I don't have anything to add. Our DVD player is usually running on long trips (I know, bad habit). We're actually going to MO this weekend and I may run to the store and pick up one of the suggestions mentioned here.
My friend lets her 4-year old play iPhone game apps on car trips. Not sure I would do that but she swears her phone can handle any level of abuse.
butting in to say that I have heard great things about the mobigo, even for 2.5- 3 yr olds.
G could play w/ our iphones forever. she is actually better w/ working them than she is age-appropriate games.
Reason# 398 why I need a better phone than my ancient flip-phone
Thanks for the suggestions ladies! I will definitely check out the MobiGo and may have to see if there are any good Leap Frog coupons for Target..
