What is the difference in knitting and crocheting? I want to learn to knit (scarves and stuff like that... and I want to make this...
laugh all you want, but all my puppies have big ears, they might like this in the cold
Do you know of any good websites, or really good step by step you tube videos that could teach me to knit?
TIA Ladies!
Re: Knitting and Crocheting
Ditto this. There are some great website and video recommendations in the FAQs.
Also, the difference between knitting and crochet is that knitting uses two needles, each with pointy ends, and crochet uses one hook. My understanding is that you have greater versatility with the types of stitches/colors with knitting, but crochet works up faster.

Crochet uses a single hook, takes up more yarn per project, and tends to look lesss "finished". Once you learn 6 basic stitches you're good. Knitting uses 2 pointed needles, takes up less yarn per project, and IMO looks more like a finished piece. You learn 2 stitches and a couple of techniques and you're good.
The dog above is wearing a knitted cowl it looks like.

Yup, that is what it was called on Etsy. Thanks for the help!
Both Knitting & Crocheting have their uses. Crocheting makes super quick baby blankets and afghans, while like PP's have said, knitting looks more finished and is better for garments.
Also, there are different ways of knitting: Continental vs. English. If you go to knittinghelp.com, I believe you will see intructions for both types. I recommend trying the Continental first. If you're right handed, this will probably seem really awkward at first; however, I believe that Continental is actually faster in the long run. If you start with English, it can be very difficult to switch over.
