Re: Dr. Mayer at USF

  • I chose Dr. Mayer as my RE last year and went to him for my consult, HSG and SIS. I don't have any complaints about him, he was nice and pretty helpful. I liked that I could email him with questions and he would write back quickly. Of course now I haven't been to him for 7 months and I don't know if maybe that's making him not care about me anymore. I emailed him a question last week and never heard back :(

But all in all I would rec him Smile There's another local nestie who recommended him to me and she had really good experiences with his practice. I think her name is Lainey or something close to that, she doesn't post on our board.

  • I couldn't remember if you went to him or the director whose name is escaping me.  I think the person you're talking about is the person on the bump that told me to go see him.  The person on the bump left the office I'm at for similar reasons that I'm considering jumping ship.

Seems like Dr. Mayer communicates - which is the biggest reason I'm looking.  My one concern is that they do about 10% of the procedures my current office does - then again, if they're not so swamped, maybe they'd actually call us back in less than a week Tongue Tied

  • Oh wow, I just saw your siggy :(  So sorry to hear that IVF your next step.  Fingers crossed that it will be the answer to your problems!

Lately I have really dropped the ball with TTC.  The last time I was at the doctors was about 6 weeks ago and he order a SA for my H (which he has yet to do, ugh) and he wanted me to come back to discuss scheduling my laproscopy.  For whatever reason I keep putting everything off.  TTC has taken so much out of me that I feel like I can't move on.  I don't want to set myself up for anymore heartache.

Anyway, good luck to you and I will be praying for you!

  • I saw Dr. Mayer, only once for a consult.  I have been seeing Dr. Tarantino who I adore. Him, all of his staff, the way they handle things, LOVE THEM!  Recently he told us we were left with only two options, both of which we were unsure we were ready for, so I (actually my H pushed for it) decided to go for a second opinion.  I took Lauren's rec for Dr. Mayer.  We did like him a lot as well.  He sat down with us and took A LOT of time.  He started back at the beginning and explained things that we had never been told about before, for example, the way the oral medications and injectiables meds work and how they are different (we had already done all of this but never had all of the details explained to us).  My H liked him a lot because he is visual and so is Dr. Mayer.  As he explained it he scribbled notes down, drew pictures, charts, etc.  It was helpful to understanding some confusing stuff.  In the end, he said he'd have us take the same path that Dr. Tarantino is, so we're staying with him and going for it.  Which Dr. are you seeing now?
