I have a blogging question

Who do you share your blog(s) with? Family? Friends? Mine is public but I've only ever send the link to our families. I felt weird about sending it to IRL friends because none of them blog, but I'm not sure why I feel weird about it. Can anyone diagnose me? :)

Re: I have a blogging question

  • My IRL friends all know about my blog because occasionally I "share" posts from it on facebook. I don't think it's weird, I figure if they want to read it, they will. If they're not interested, they can ignore it.
  • I've had mine for so long that pretty much everyone I know, knows about it. I started it to update people about Drew's health when he was bedbound during our engagement so I forwarded it to everyone then. I've decreased how many ppl I send it to down to only people who aren't on FB (or never check it).
  • I didn't ever want to send it out to people either, so I just listed it as my website on facebook, and IRL friends and family that are interested have found it, commented on it, followed it, etc.

  • Ditto Stef. I don't know that I ever sent a mass email announcing it... well I must have to my parents since they don't have FB. I have it as "my website" on FB so people that are nosy enough find it!

  • I think it depends on the purpose of your blog. I thought of mine like a newsletter to people I don't see often or during a time when ppl wanted to know frequent updates about us and I didn't want to/couldn't email or call people constantly. If this is a blog of private, innermost thoughts, it has a different purpose. So I would use that as a gauge, too. If you're going to use language or cover topics you don't want grandma to read about, maybe you don't send it out to your family. You'll figure out what works for you.
