s/o s/o customer service

I know many people will report bad customer service to the manager, corporate, etc. but do you report good customer service?

I try to make a concerted effort to do this.  I've asked for the manager after a meal (even somewhere like Cracker Barrel) to share what a nice experience we had because of the server's great customer service.  I've also emailed corporate to share a particularly nice service experience.  This isn't everytime someone is nice or is doing their job, but if it's above and beyond or just really considerate I try to remember to let their "powers that be" know - in addition to thanking the person directly.

I do. If it is a large chain I will usually email corporate. That gets the person more recognition than just telling the manager.

  • Absolutely. Typically they only hear the complaints so I make a point of telling them if someone was excellent or went above and beyond. Sometimes at a restaurant when we may ask a server for a manager to stop by they get a look of "fear" thinking we are going to complain.

  • I do! I did this last year at Christmas.  The new TRU and BRU opened at 249/1960 and they were really busy.  I had a bunch of returns and then wanted to purchase two strollers and another present for my sister.  I was dreading it.  I had to go in after 4, so I thought it would be awful.  Turns out the sales representative and the manager went above and beyond! I was really pleased and sent an email to their corporate office.  The corporate office in turned sent me an email that I was copied on to the store GM.  I hope that the two ladies that helped me so much were really recognized.
  • I'm not very good about doing this in the moment.  However, when I do have a good experience I share it with friends.  I'm also in a buiness where I give lots of referals for all kinds of things.  I always recommend establishments which have provided good service, especially small local businesses.
  • Yes, hundreds of times!  I love giving kudos as I love receiving them.  I know how I feel when I am acknowledged for my service, so I would hope that my bringing it up would do the same for others.

I always do, I did at Kroger just a couple weeks back because a stocker went above and beyond.

Kroger???  Kroger is evil!!!!!  Stick out tongue

  • Regularly.  Customer service quality has declined so much in recent years I think those that go above and beyond should be rewarded.

I emailed Chili's Corporate about outstanding service from Chili's in Meyerland and Corporate sent me a gift card thanking me for the feedback!

  • I definitely try to report excellent customer service.  I used to work as a receptionist and people would complain to me all the time and every once in a while we would have someone call and compliment.

They see us rollin'...they be hatin'.
  • I definitely do. I worked in restaurants and retail for more than 15 years and know the importance of compliments. Giving compliments on good service is more likely to get you better service in the future than complaining is.

  • I have done this on occasion, or posted a good review on Trip Advisor and named names.
  • I absolutely will. I've been known to call a manager over to our table to extend a compliment at restaurants, much to my Dh's chagrin.

The Kroger big-wigs were in our store a week or two ago and they asked me if I needed any help.  I gave them a piece of my mind about double/triple coupons.  They gave me the whole gas spiel and I asked them if they saw a gas station at this Kroger (there isn't one.)   They said they are considering one (never going to happen, no space.)  It was fun to put them on the spot though.

I am buying much more stuff at CM now, but I still hit Kroger for a lot of things.  I tried HEB, but I hate the one near our house.
