My Peanut really is a peanut

Carly had her 4 mo appt yesterday... she's only 11 lb 8 oz. She hasn't gained any weight since her 2 mo appt, but grew 1/2 an inch (24 1/2 in now). The dr wasn't worried bc she's happy, healthy and strong, but the lack of weight gain has me concerned... I was going to delay starting solids a bit but think we'll be starting this weekend so now hopefully it helps her gain weight. Think I'm going to email another doctor in the practice, too, just to get his thoughts.

Re: My Peanut really is a peanut

  • Getting a second opinion is never a bad thing, imo.

What a peanut !! I am sure she'll have another growth spurt soon!!!

  • Wow, she really is a peanut.

I know how frustrating lack of weight gain can be. Hang in there and good luck getting your peanut to become a chunky monkey.

  • JJ had issues gaining weight as a baby, too - once we started him on rice cereal and solids, he started to pick up weight. I know Carly will get there, too - good luck mama!

  • We had weight gaining issues in the beginning as well.  I know all too well has stressful that is.  I hope Carly enjoys cereal:)

  • I'm sure she'll pick up weight soon. Especially, after you start her on solids. It never hurts to get a second opinion to ease your mind. Hang in there! Good luck! I just love seeing her smiling face in your siggy!

  • Awww, she is a peanut :) Second opinions never hurt anything! Maybe their scale was off? I've heard of that happening over on the bump boards when the scale needed to be recalibrated. I know it's worrisome though! Good luck!

My niece, too. She's now the tallest 3 year old I've ever seen!

  • Wow!!  She really is a little peanut, a second opinion couldn't hurt and put your mind at ease.  But I'm sure she'll be a big girl before you know it.
