Places to eat near Media/Wallingford/Swarthmore
Sunday night my husband and I will be in the area checking it out and
driving by a few listed homes. Is there anywhere noteworthy we should
eat? I love getting a meal in a town to get a sense of its character.
It can be anything - casual, maybe a little more upscale, bar food,
anything really.
huge thanks in advance.
Re: Places to eat near Media/Wallingford/Swarthmore
There are a few places on State Street in Media that are great - Fellini Cafe (Italian BYO), Margaret Kuo's (Chinese/Japanese), Iron Hill Brewery (upscale-ish bar food and micro brews), The Towne House (Italian - family feel), Azie (Japanese), Sligo (Irish Pub), Quotations (bar food)....there are many more than I am forgetting. I would just take a walk down State Street and see what looks good.
Also, not a restaurant, but 320 Market in Swarthmore is one of my favorite little gems in Delco. It's on Chester Road (Rt 320) and Parklane Road in Swarthmorewood and they have the best sandwiches AND they make this pico de gallo that will knock your socks off. I used to live 5 minutes from there, and now I live 20 miles away and will drive down to buy it when I am having company. It's seriously THAT amazing.
In Swarthmore area, Java Joe's on Fairview Road is a great little breakfast/lunch spot. It gets crowded but it's awesome. There is also Vicky's Place in Swarthmore near the college for breakfast and lunch. Also, Nifty Fifty's on MacDade in Folsom (next to Swarthmore) is one of my most favorite places in the world....so much so that I worked there for about 5 years in high school/college.
Hope that helps!
To add to Tracy's list above:
Lotus (farm to table restaurant, BYOB), Picasso (Spanish/Italian; full bar), Stephen's on State (steakhouse, full bar), La Belle Epoque (French, bar).

Save room for dessert at the Sweet Potato Cafe. One of the best carrot cakes I've ever had.
Shere-e-punjab! DH and I love this place. When we lived in Delco we went there so often they knew us by name and voice on the phone and pretty much followed my entire pregnancy and dd's infancy week by week. I forget which day you said you'd be in town, but on Wednesdays Media does "dining under the stars" where portions of state street are shut down and the restaurants put tables/umbrellas out in the street for outdoor dining.
