Had a pretty crappy day

Anyone have some funny jokes/quotes/pictures/stories?? I'd love to hear any of them right now!!

(As a back story, I lost my great grandma on Monday, have elevated blood pressure, could be at risk for preeclampsia, not sure if I can afford the ultrasound, will have to pee into a jug for 24 hours, found out my mom's insurance doesn't cover anything relating to maternity... so I just found out I owe about $2000 just for delivery costs... I'm thrilled...)

Re: Had a pretty crappy day

  • I don't have nay funny jokes or stories, but I am sorry to hear about your great grandma.  Also, I'm sorry that you're dealing with possible preclampsia an d peeing in a jug does not sound so fun.  :(  And, I hate insurance.  I'm always paranoid when I go to the doctor about getting hit with a bill.  At least you're getting to the last few weeks before you get to meet Brooklyn in person!

  • I don't know the exact websites for these, but Damn you autocorrect, *** my dad says, and I can has cheezburger are all funny sites... and cheezburger also has a bunch of sister sites that are pretty amusing, like the failblog.... oh, and there's also failbook (facebook fails)...

    I'm sorry everything is going badly for you lately.  {hugs}

  • thank you ladies! I think I finally let the build up of the past few weeks get to me (hadn't been getting along with DH in the midst of everything) and dealing with child insurance and now having to learn about mine with these stupid contractions.. has not been a fun week haha.

I'll have to stay occupied for a few days lol.. I don't feel so stressed, but these stupid contractions suck butt. I'll entertain myself with DYAC, and all those fun sites :)

  • I'm sorry :( I hope you don't have pre-e and that you will have a drama free rest of pregnancy. Insurance does stink, if you are covered by a parents then maternity is generally never covered for you. If it helps at all, I have my own coverage from work and will still owe 5-10k for medical bills for this pregnancy and delivery.

HOLY MOLY!!! That's insane... I won't even be paying that much.... ultrasounds are almost $300 and delivery is $3200... maybe with hospital stay if anything goes wrong, I could get up to 10k, but whoa! that's insane!!

  • Faith... I am sorry you are having such a rough week! :( I hope it all gets sorted out. My sister pays between 2k and 7k per child (always insured, just each year fluctuates some. She has three). So yeah, I am glad you don't have to pay 7k. :) What really got my sister with the first baby was that she didn't realize that once the baby is born, the hospital starts billing you separately for your baby as a separate patient. So she got one set of bills, paid them, and then got the same bills again for her baby. Maddening.

When I want to laugh, I visit the cake wrecks and dig around in their archives. They have some great posts:

  • Aww, Faith, I hope everything turns around for you! That is a really rough week and I'm sorry to hear about that. Hopefully you don't have pre-e.

Manda, that's crazy that you have to pay that much with insurance! I thought my insurance adding a $500 deductible was crazy, but that's nothing compared to what you're going to have to pay.

I know, it's crazy. There is no deductible if I am in-network (which I always am) but For most things I have to pay 20% until I hit my "max out of pocket" per year- which for my (individual) policy right now is 5k. But the moment the baby is born it goes to a Family plan and no longer individual - which has a 10k max out of pocket. Not to mention the actual premiums I pay per month out of my paycheck for a family plan is 500-600 / month  (individual is about $200/mo)

Worst part is, this is all cheaper then if we were on DH's insurance! His family plan would cost us $1,500/mo out of his check, no thank you!

  • If it makes you feel any better, I'm going to owe about $5,000 in addition to what I've already paid.

I've already paid about $1,300 for prescriptions, various blood tests, etc.  Then my deductible and out of pocket max resets in January.  The baby is due January 17th.

So I will have to pay my deductible over since labor, delivery, hospital fees, pediatrician fees, etc will all be billed AFTER the baby is born, starting in January.  I have a $3,000 deductible, then everything is covered 90% until I hit my $5,000 out of pocket max.

So I will have had paid nearly $6,500 after it's all said and done.  You're not alone.

Aww, I'm incredibly sorry to hear about what you'll have to deal with too. As much as I'd like to say it makes me feel better I'm not alone, in this case, that's not the case. I honestly hope that you and your H will make it through without any troubles and that your LO brings more joy than anything!
