This is more of a what would you have done, as it has already happened.
I applied for a part time 4th/5th teacher position at a private school. I got an e-mail back a few hours later requesting an interview for today. He gave me the address. I googled the name of the school and I wasn't able to find anything about it. I thought that was odd since school starts in a month here.
Well this morning as I was already driving to the interview, the "principal" calls me and asks to meet somewhere else. I was driving so I asked him to e-mail it to me. I pulled over to check my e-mail (I have an iphone), he gives me the address and says it's his house. I already thought this was kind of sketchy so t here is no way I was going to some guy's house. I e-mailed him back saying I was uncomfortable meeting at his house and to let me know if he wanted to reschedule for another time. He hasn't responded, and I am really creeped out by the whole thing. To make matters worse he has my address.
I think from now on I am only going to put my e-mail and phone number on my resumes for craigslist. The last teaching job I got before we moved was from Craigslist so I don't want to stop applying. What would you have done in this situation?
Re: Craigslist ad WWYD?
that is creepy and not professional. You did the right thing by not going to his house. I'd report him to the local police just so this doesn't happen to another person who might not be smart enough to refuse to go to his house for an interview.
You did the right thing by not going. Have you checked to see if the ad was still listed? You may want to consider contacting the police. I would probably run his name and address through the computer and his telephone number. I would also look to see if he was on any sex offender registries.
That is very creepy. I'd probably contact the police. Even if nothing comes of it, it'd be good to have it documented.
I am paranoid about stuff like that so I might actually email the guy again saying that I appreciate the consideration but just found out that I'll be moving to another state. Of course you're playing along and lying, but then he'll think your address is incorrect. I'd keep all correspondence via email -- it isn't traceable (to him) and there will be a paper trail.

This. Report it to the police for sure.
Definitely report it to your local police department. I'd flag the ad on craigslist as well.
I work for an apartment community and we had someone posting bogus ads about our community trying to scam people into sending them money. They were using our descriptions and amenity listing from our website
