More work email questions
1. How do you start emails? Dear Lucille, Hi Lucille, Lucille? Something else? If it depends on the situation/person, do you have any general rules or guidelines you use?2. Something I always struggle with is following up on things when second requesting something. I always want to start "I just wanted to..." and then say whatever it is, but I hate how passive that sounds. Do you guys have any situations like this you run into and have anything better you use?3. What is your email signature?
Re: More work email questions
1. If it's someone I'm friendly with, it's usually Hey/Hi Lucille. If it's an external vendor or someone in a higher position, it's usually Dear Lucille.
2. I usually just forward the original email if there is one and say something along the lines of "we had discussed a timeline of __ for the completion of ___. Can you please give me an update on this?"
3. Ours is institutionally mandated.. Name / position / site / bulding & rm # / street address / phone / fax
1. I generally start emails with 'Hi soandso,' or no salutation at all.
2. If I'm second requesting something, I'm more direct and say something like, 'Have you had a chance to review this yet?' or 'Can you give me a timeframe for when to expect this?'
3. My email sig is:

3. Company standard... name, title, phone, fax, address, email, disclaimer
1. Hi Lucille.
2. I ask for a status update with the original request attached. If it's my first attempt, I'll usually say "I'm just following up..."
3. Full name, company name, phone number, website. If I'm sending something a little more important than my every day (like to the dept. of revenue or something)...I'll add my offiical title. So they know they're dealing w/ a decision maker.
I always forward the first request with the second request too. I'm trying to get rid of "just" because it just sounds hesitant. I like some of your suggestions!
1. Hi Lucille
2. If I am following up, I always ask for a time frame.
3. Name?Title? Company ?desk phone number?pager ?email
