only one more day

good morning!

had a nice evening at home, went for a good 5 mile run on a new route (always nice to switch stuff up!), talked to my cousin in CA, made delicious quesadillas, and watched master chef.  i <3 that show but hate how rude the judges can be.

tonight after running i am going to do some upper body strength--need to get my arms slimmer!  then BBQ chicken, "i love you philip morris," and packing for our weekend away.

tomorrow i leave early and will stop at tjmaxx to see if i can find a last minute dress to wear to the wedding.  otherwise i will have to recycle one at home.  i don't want to spend more than $35. then by 2 it is off we go!

Re: only one more day

  • Good Morning! Today is my last day at the nursing homes (yay!) and I'll either be back at the schools next week or I'll be working at a pediatric outpatient clinic (fingers crossed on this one).

I was planning on chicken tacos or breakfast for supper (big difference, huh?) last night but our landlord brought our new stove over (the oven went out in the old one) last night and he showed up later than he said so we went and got mexican with the nieces.

Hopefully going to the lake all day tomorrow on their last day here. No big plans for the weekend which is nice.

  • hey there!

It is storming like crazy here today, but our lawn needs it so bad!  I love a good thunderstorm!

Been cleaning every night this week.  Ive realized that 1.)  I hate cleaning and 2.) I get worn out a lot easier so I can't do the entire house in one shot lately.    Have more to do on that tonight.  By friday night the entire house will be complete.  :-)

  • I recycled dresses for all of my weddings this year. Some years are dress buying years and some aren't. This one wasn't!

Morning! Today is my Friday! A month of August full of five day weeks is going to be onerous.

Last night I went home and made a quick yet delightful dinner: sauteed chicken cutlets; made caprese salad with Jersey tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil from my planters and olive oil and balsamic vinegar; and hooked up some Jersey white corn. Holler.

After that I emptied the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen, packed lunch, packed for this weekend, and did a load of laundry. MFD and I watched two episodes of Hell's Kitchen and went to bed around 11:30.

I got three years of US Magazine for $59.91 TOTAL (normally $239.97 for three years) and a year of Budget Travel for $2.99 (normally $11.99). CouponDivas has been sharing some awesome magazine deals. I love my magazines!

Scultping class today, also need to tap MAC.

I used my Pureology shampoo and conditioner this morning, it is expensive as hell but it is truly the bomb. I love it. I want to shake my mane like Fabio.

  • Mary - I clean a little every night. I don't like to waste my weekends cleaning for three or four hours in a shot unless I'm doing a deep cleaning.

  • It's only 9:15 and I wish it was 5:30. I am the person the teachers call out to if they aren't coming in. (I HATE this job, and I am counting down the days till mid nov. when I can have someone else do it just in case I go into labor early) Well I get a voicemail while I'm in the shower for a teacher just saying call me back, I did she didin't answer. Well, I get to work and she needs to go home is sick. You couldn't have told me this at 7:30? So I have spent the morning trying to find someone last minute to come in, I have failed so far and I don't really care.  Vent over.

Greg suprisingly has tonight off, YAY! So I think it is BLT's for dinner and not sure if we are doing anything else. Maybe some laundry because I can't really go do it myself lifting the heavy baskets. I'm actually not sure if this is true because I haven't gone to do laundry since I have gotten a bigger belly but I will pretend because I HATE going to the laundrymat.

Josh is going to be gone all day at a concert on saturday so I was originally planning on doing it then.  But they are showing our house on saturday so that is what motivated me to get it clean before then.  (we rent but the house is for sale, so we have to deal with showings once in a while.)

  • I feel like dying in my house just because I don't ever want to deal with showings. My husband is a realtor and he is insane in the effing membrane about that stuff.

That's a good deal.  But I've never been a fan of US magazine.  I'm more of a people magazine kinda gal.

  • I am a magazine Ho. I don't really discriminate. I like the pictures in US mag. I am a People reader though, as in actually read all the articles and like their book reviews, etc.

i read both, but only when i am at the gym.  i have a 'script to people, but i do buy us to read as well (again, only for the gym, if i run outside i dont buy it).  i love the pictures and fun stuff in us, but i only believe it as factual if it is in people.

Samesies on the factual versus fictional.

Since I am a wild and crazy lady, I like to read People, Entertainment Weekly and now US on the couch or in bed on Thursday and Friday nights. I save Real Simple, Better Homes, Good Housekeeping for the two days a week I do the treadmill.

  • hola chicas!  another day, another hustle.

I'm happy to report that am I back in working mode.  I banged out 13 hours of solid work yesterday.  I only stopped to eat and once briefly when I got sucked into the wonderfully ridiculous Resident Evil: Afterlife.

I'm back in my client's office today for the first time in weeks. I don't know why I bothered coming in, none of the other contractors showed up.  I'm literally here by myself.  My only consolation is that the CEO popped his head in.  hahaha  Brownie points!!!

  • Steph I am oober jealous of your friday today.

Last night I went on a 10 1/2 mile bike ride. My legs are feeling it today.

Im super nerding it up today. I look like a friggen librarian in my glasses, cardigan, and brown dress lol. Oh well.

Tonight I don't have anything to do! E is on a bike ride kick so we'll probably cruise the block a couple times and then occupy the madness we call kitties. I swear they are worse than toddlers! Im glad I decided no more kids for a while. Everytime I turn around Im telling them "no", "be nice to your sister", or "get that out of your mouth". Then they make it up to me by snuggling for an hour while I watched a movie :-)

I believe that is all. Good day :-)

    Good for you!

Gerren just signed up for a 50 mile road race in 2 weeks, I am so excited for him!  He has been biking more (not enough though) and sometimes complains about soreness and tiredness, which is weird to me, because he used to bike for 40-50 miles for fun after work, but i think he has just gotten lazy :)

  • I'm so exhausted today, and glad it's Thursday - I thought it was Wednesday, for some reason.  We're going fishing with Jeff's brothers on Saturday and they're staying over - I am in a panic because I STILL haven't cleaned the apartment.  Jeff thinks it will get done, but we almost had a fight this morning because it seems to me that he thinks magical fairies will come clean it, because neither of us have the time and it will take a few hours to get it to even passable conditions.

On top of that, I'm annoyed because the fishing trip is supposed to be over at 2 a.m., and I want to book a hotel room rather than drive home from VA, but Jeff wants to wait and see if he's able to drive.  Eff that.  We are going to be dead-tired and cranky, and I am 100% positive we won't want to drive home, but I know it will be a nightmare trying to find a room at that time, when we're that tired.  I just don't see it going well.  We don't even know how far it will be yet, because the guy is waiting until today to let us know where to meet him, so we can just go where the fishing is good and not waste time riding out.  Sounds good in theory, but it's driving me nuts not knowing where we will be, where we could book, how to get there, or even how far of a drive it will be.  We don't have GPS, so it won't be easy finding a hotel that night/early morning.  I feel like a crazy person, because no one else thinks it's an issue at all.  Ugh.  sorry for the rant.

  • Laura~Words of advice...Deep breath and wing it :-) Whats the worse that could happen? You have a wonderful story or saying how you got lost in the friggen woods drunk and smelling of fish at 2a.m. and finally found a room at 5 a.m. but then realized it wasn't worth the 3 hours so you sleep in McDonalds parking lot until the sun has the car so hot you wake up sweating then drive hungover home :-) You will appreciate your shower and bed alot more!

I agree with this. My favorite vacations growing up were when we would get into a car and drive. We had no reservations anywhere and would find a hotel/motel to sleep in.

  • Hello Everybody!! I haven't been here much lately, but I miss you gals!

Last night was alittle random. H called me from work (he works evening shift) and said his boss was invited on a fishing trip at the coast but cant make it for some reason and they people hosting the fishing trip invited him to take his bosses place since everything is already paid for. But he would have to drive to Houston tonight (last night and it's a 4 hour dirve) and then they will fish at like 6 in the morning to about 1 in the afternoon. So ofcourse it was cool with me if he went so I was sleeping alone last night and I swear it was the best night sleep I got in a long time. I think because the dogs stayed on his side of the bed.

Today, I am going at 12:30 to get my hair cut. My hair right now is down to about the middle of my back and I am getting it cut to above my shoulders. I love the way my long hair looks but I just cant stand it taking so long to get ready. And 80% of the time I just wear it in a pony tail. So it will all be gone today. And since H is gone, when he gets home it will be a total surprise to him! I can't wait!

  • Laura, I LOVE fishing.  What fun.   I'd book the hotel too or at a minimum, make jeff commit to driving back if he nixes the hotel idea. His choice.  Sleeping in the car was fun back when I was 21.

je- that's ballsy!  hahaha  Let us know how it turns out and how H takes the surprise haircut.

  • Today is the start of our vacation! We are attending DH's cousin's wedding Saturday and then staying in the Traverse City, Mi area for the following week and maybe hitting up Mackinac Island on the way home. Looking forward to wine tours, beautiful bed and breakfasts, and camping too.

Although I am slowing down our leaving because we had so much stuff to do and no reservations anywhere tonight. I want to pack, clean, and make sure everything is perfect before we leave. DH is currently gone picking up our mail and I am going to get my haircut at 1:30. My hair is at the perfect length to show off the horrible haircut I got last time, I want to feel good about it while we are gone.

Also, a few of you were in a weird vacation related dream I had last night.

  • I hear what you guys are saying about winging it, but that is just not me (I think Steph and Shauni know what page I'm on).  What Jess described sounds like an UTTER NIGHTMARE to me, not fun at all.  And because that sort of thing makes me cranky, I'm a real biitch in situations like that, and no one else has any fun even if they normally would.

  • Hey ladies. I;m late, but around. Went to a church rummage sale this morning and spent about $15 on random stuff I didn't really need, but picked up anyway. Did get a set of five champagne flutes that are a deep cobalt blue. Couldn't resist for $5. Felt slightly good about myself dropping off all my recycling (paper/glass/plastic) and washing the containers. Yay for going green!

We turned our A/C back on last night and now it is acting up a little, not blowing with the force it usually does... currently it's about 85 inside. *sigh* Called H about it, but he said to leave it on as long as it was cold.
