NONE of Jack's surgeries or appointments are covered by our insurance since they are out of network for GHI, which we have through DH's NYC plan. Thankfully whatever is not covered at Shriner's is picked up by them.
Well we hit our deductible for 2011 for Jack (with them assuming we have paid XXX) so they sent us a check for his surgery in May to forward to the hospital for almost $20,000 to cover his 2 hour out patient surgery.
I am so happy and excited that Shriner's will get some money for what they have done for Jack. I am also hoping that in September when we go back to them for xrays and check up if anything needs to be done we'll do it before 2012 so they get paid again.
next up: working with insurance and the hospital to get Jack OT since he didn't qualify through EI since the tests don't specify which hand the tasks need to be done with so he passed with flying colors. Our insurance only covers PT and not OT, so I need to get a script for PT from his doctor, and I found a PT hand specialist through the place I am currently getting PT from.
