Netflix

I'm so annoyed that that they are changing their billing and costs. What costs me $11.99/month is going up to over $20/month.. Any of you experiencing this too? I'm so annoyed I don't think I'll keep it. Or maybe just the streaming for $7.99/month. Not sure yet.

Re: Netflix

  • Ugh! I would be a little mad. We don't have it. Do you like having it?

  • i heard a report on the radio about this. a lot of people are upset. apparently they think netflix is trying to get out of the dvd business altogether to focus on streaming.

  • I love it, but also have HBO and Showtime.. We need to make some cuts..... I'm just annoyed they are doubling their prices.

  • I think we are going to drop their service.  We've started getting newer DVD's from Redbox.  I just can't see paying that much more for something we rarely use anymore.  I liked it when the new movies were available right away and there wasn't a waiting period to get them.  We would probably keep the streaming if they had more current things available.
  • I think it sucks, but we will probably end up keeping it. It sucks for them because their costs went up so much that they really had no choice! Sounds like the movie companies basically screwed them!

  • I didn't know anything about movie companies charging them so much money. I'm surprised they didn't send out a little PSA via email to explain all that. Just that my service fees are changing and pick a new plan. So annoying. I may just keep the streaming service, b/c like pp said, red box is perfect also.

  • Ours will be going up $5 a month.  I think we are going to stick with it.  We don't have cable so it is our main form of entertainment and it is still pretty cheap for $16 a month.  Also there are a lot of things that I want to watch that aren't available to stream so I think we will keep the 1 disc and streaming.  I was pissed when I first saw it, but they are a business and businesses have every right to raise their prices and really $5 a month isn't THAT big of a hike.
  • Yep ours was going up too.

We had streaming and one dvd that could be a blue ray as well.

We dropped the blue ray/dvd because we barely have time to watch movies with Ava and streaming is so much easier.

We decided if we really wanted a dvd we'll go to redbox even though you never know if that damn thing will work.

To me I didn't want to pay that much so now we pay 7.99 and I'm fine with that

  • We just stream, and we love it. We're actually thankful that we're now getting the option to due away with DVDs. We always get one out, and keep it for a few months, then send it back so we can keep the stream coming. And ours updates constantly. I have friends who complain that the same things are there forever, but ours changes every 2 weeks or so, unless we keep it in our queue, then it stays until we remove it.

Pretty much this.  We actually had cancelled a few months ago and were using Redbox only.  Then two weeks ago, J decided he wanted Netflix again (since he is home at night now and can actually get use out of it).  Like the day after we rejoined, the press release came out about the rate change.  Bleh.

We'll keep it for now.  We're getting into watching Treme (we don't have HBO so we never saw it) and that's not streaming.  We'll see how it goes for a little while.
