So I saw this article and it totally made me laugh and also got me thinking about the time I decided to run away (one of the many lol). I had a playschool type easel, blue and green, and wrote on the chalk board that I was running away. I made it outside to the side of the house and was freezing, so I went back inside with the firm conviction that I would run away in the summer time (although that would have been equally illogical because of the insane heat in TX in the summer!)

Says the girl "I am runing
away becas you think I farted when I dident. PS You are Mean."
When you were a kid, did you ever try to run away? Or as a teenager, was there that moment when you swore that your parents were out to ruin your life?
Re: Running away
Hahahaha.
Yes, once I ran away to the bathroom! I don't remember why but I think I was feeling ignored. I took pillows and books and went and sat in the bathtub for like an hour before I realized no one was looking for me and quietly went back to my room across the hall.
I never thought my parents were out to ruin my life as a teenager. My parents and I had our disagreements, but I was actually a very tame kid and didn't have the insane rebellious streak it seems that most teens have.
lol!
When I was like 7 or 8, I would say "I'm running away" and go pack my little bag and go hide in the garage or in the backyard on my swing set. My parents didn't take me seriously! I wonder why? haha
I did once when I was in grade 8. I never pretended to run away ( that I remember ) but I actually did one time - but it didn't work out. Long story short - I got ice cream, my school called social services and the psychological clusterfvck that ensued that day will no doubt feature one day in some sort of "children of sociopaths" study.
It's one of those, "I only did it once" kind of life lessons.
Chronically hilarious - you'll split your stitches!

Will this story also be elaborated in your soon-to-come-into-being blog?

Just the necessities. You know, like some chapstick, a couple pens, and a barbie.
Love it! A friend of mine did just that (the bag) at around 6 years old and actually went out to the street but then failed at the first hurdle as she had been told not to cross the street by herself... she sat at the corner of the street for a while & then went home.
hehe. So cute. Even though she was mad enough to run away, she still obeyed.
I never did, but there is a story my family tells all the time about my little sister. She got in trouble with my mother and was sent to her room. When my mom went up later to talk to her she heard my sister talking to herself (she was probably around 5?). So she put her ear to the door and my sister was saying.
"And I'll never come down for dinner or anything. I'll stay in here until I die. Mom will come to get me and alls she'll find is a skull!"
That would really have shown my Mom, had the plan worked out :P

That's so funny. I think I was pretty dramatic as a child, too.
when I was about 6, my father got transfered from washington, dc to va beach, va. to prepare my sister and I for the upcoming move, my parents told us all the time about how we were moving to VA Beach and we were going to pick out a new house and we were going to do this and that and all these great things. The problem was, they never told me I was included in the move. I thought they were moving and leaving me behind!!
I packed up my suitcase, hauled it off to school with me and told my teacher I was moving in with her. She rocked me while I bawled crying and called my parents to come explain the situation a little better
I "ran away" when I was 12 or so, but I just stuck around the neighborhood. Then a couple of hours later my mom called for me, so I went back. I was thinking she would apologize for whatever it was that she'd done, but she didn't say a word. I remember being SO mad.
When I was 17 or so, I got angry at my mom, so I spent the night at a friend's house on a school night without telling her. She was so pissed when I finally went home. I was a good kid, and usually didn't do things like that.
