Shellac Manicure

I recently got a Shellac manicure for a wedding I was going to and I LOVE it. Whenever I get a regular one, the polish chips hours later and is gone in 2 days.

I got this done on Saturday and it looks BRAND new today. They are supposed to last 2 weeks.

It was pricey but well worth it. Anyone else getting this?

Re: Shellac Manicure

  • I was going to do this for a wedding once but heard that it thins your nails.

Most nail salons do them now :)

  • I think Charlotte had it done and it chipped really quickly.

Where did you go? How much was it? I do my own nails because I hate paying for a manicure, only to have it chip the next day. If this lasts, I may actually do it.

  • Mags is right the first one I got peeled pretty quickly but then I tried it again which was a different make and that lasted 2 - 2 1/2 weeks... the place I go offers one by OPI and I guess the other is shellac, not sure?  My nail place prefers the gel by OPI and that is the one that lasted longer for me... who knows!

  • I've also tried this a few times, at two different places. Mine peeled within a week's time. I don't know if my nails just aren't cut out for it, but I'd rather just pay for a weekly manicure than pay significantly more for the shellac and not have it last.

THIS! I had the reg Shellac and it was meh...but the OPI was much better. However...Essie is my new fave polish - it last me a week and I just do it myself.

  • I went to Shalom Nails on 304 right next to Barry's Estate Jewelers. It was $30. It was def the Shellac one but I have seen the OPI one at Mani Pedi. Maybe i'll try that one next.
  • My place offers OPI i am going to try it next time I go.  Thanks for heads up.
