Cable Provider

Talk to me ladies. DH and I are approaching our final days on closing on a house. With this said we are considering getting cable/internet.

Who is/are your provider(s)?

How much is your bill for both internet and Cable (if you feel comfortable sharing)?

What is all included in your services?

How long you been with the provider, are you in a contract?

Are you happy with the customer service?

TIA!!!!

Re: Cable Provider

  • well I recommend FIOS if you can get it. We pay like 80 a month for our home phone and internet, and I would love to just get a bundle (They keep offering me phone, internet and TV for 99 a month). But DH refuses because he HAS to have the NFL Sunday ticket which only DirecTV has. Annoying.

Their customer service has been fantastic. Comcast's customer service would make me stabby and we had outages constantly with them.

  • Who is/are your provider(s)? Comcast

How much is your bill for both internet and Cable (if you feel comfortable sharing)? Currently we pay $153 for internet, phone and cable w/ one dvr box for our HDTV and two other boxes for just the cable on our other tv's.

What is all included in your services? cable, internet, phone, basic digital HD channels, no showtime or HBO, movie channels.

How long you been with the provider, are you in a contract? Way too long, our contract has expired, hence the higher price, we are waiting for FIOS to come to the Harford County area (abingdon). They are actually working in CF now and it should be another few months.

Are you happy with the customer service? GOD NO! I let DH talk to Comcast, because I seriously like to jump through the phone when I talk to them.

  • Who is/are your provider(s)?  We use Broadstripe (was Millenium Digital).

How much is your bill for both internet and Cable (if you feel comfortable sharing)?  For cable + internet, our bill is about $130 a month

What is all included in your services?  Digital cable, high speed internet, all movie channels (starz, HBO, showtime, etc), 2 digital cable boxes and 3 wall outlets.

How long you been with the provider, are you in a contract? We have used them for almost 8 years

Are you happy with the customer service?  Goodness no, but they are no better or worse than Comcast (who we used for 2 years while we rented).

  • Who is/are your provider(s)? Comcast

How much is your bill for both internet and Cable (if you feel comfortable sharing)?  $260/month

What is all included in your services? Ours is ridiculous b/c we have internet, phone, cable with 3 DVR boxes, HBO, Showtime, Starz, Encore and Howard Stern. Once we move we're going to scale back a lot.

How long you been with the provider, are you in a contract? A few years

Are you happy with the customer service? At times they've been a pain - waiting forever when On Demand or certain channels aren't working or they've screwed up our billing.

My Mom has Verizon and it sounds like they're just as bad. She recently signed up for internet with them and she didn't even get her package in the mail until 3 weeks after they said she would get it. When she called, it turned out they didn't even mail her the info yet they added the extra cost to her bill. They also misquoted her a lot of charges.

  • We have FIOS, but we had comcast for 5 years.

$120 for phone, internet and a DVR box

    1 year, yes.

Happy with the customer service. We chose FIOS when we moved because Comcast was going to charge us a $75 re-installation fee to restart our service. It seems like if you have two competing companies customer service is better. Comcast had great customer service when we lived in EC and tried to switch to FIOS (it was a nightmare and we ended up switching back to comcast). However, we had a ton of outages.

In our current house, we haven't really had any problems with outages, so we don't need to deal with customer service.

  • We've had FiOS for about 4 years, very happy.

We pay 120ish for a phone/internet/cable bundle w/ 1 HD/DVR box and one regular digital box.  We don't ahve any premium channels.

I think we need to add another box though

  • Who is/are your provider(s)? Comcast

How much is your bill for both internet and Cable (if you feel comfortable sharing)?  rounding up...$185/month

What is all included in your services? internet, phone, cable with 2 DVR boxes and a 3rd regular box, HBO, Showtime, Starz, and Encore

How long you been with the provider, are you in a contract? A few years but currently no contract

Are you happy with the customer service? We've only had 1 Godawefulterrible experience with them and DH was able to wrangle some credits out of them and get a free install but other than that, we're happy.  I hear these horror stories about messed up bills and terrible CS but we have never had any major issues.  Anytime we have had to CS the rep has been more than helpful.

  • We have DirectTV. for television and Verizon for internet/phone. I can't tell you off the top of my head how much they are, but as soon as we move anywhere with service, we are getting a FIOS bundle. Will never again use Comcast.

We've also been extremely happy with FIOS. I could not wait to get rid of Comcast. We pay $121 for 1 HD/DVR cable box with HBO and internet.

  • Who is/are your provider(s)?  FiOS

How much is your bill for both internet and Cable (if you feel comfortable sharing)?  I'm not sure, we just signed a new contract.

What is all included in your services?  We have tv, internet, phone, and 1 DVR, 2 HD boxes.

How long you been with the provider, are you in a contract?  We have had FiOS for 5 years and we love it.  We just signed a new contract.

Are you happy with the customer service?  Yes, they are worlds better than Comcast in terms of the actual service (the tv is so much clearer) and we have been pretty happy with the customer service too.  They aren't perfect in terms of dealing with service but we have found that we need to contact them far less than we did with Comcast because our service rarely goes down.

  • Who is/are your provider(s)?  Comcast

How much is your bill for both internet and Cable (if you feel comfortable sharing)?  We have triple play (phone, internet, TV) and every premium movie channel.  Our bill is $204 per month and that includes two DVR/HD boxes.

What is all included in your services?  See above.

How long you been with the provider, are you in a contract?  Since we moved to our house in 2007.  Yes - we have an annual contract.

Are you happy with the customer service?  Heck, no.  It's Comcast after all, but Verizon isn't available in our area and I have gotten less than stellar reviews about Direct TV from our neighbors.  Every year, we have to call and threaten to cancel, yet the monthly fee continues to increase.  I think for all three it is $189.99 but with taxes/fees it comes to $204.

How do you like DirecTV? I hate comcast but they don't have verizon where I live now, so if I don't move anytime soon, I may look into switching.

  • We have FIOS

We pay $202 per month.  We have phone, cable, internet and some other features they offer.  We have their antivirus service, online backup, the top tier channel package they offer and some other features that i cannot remember.

We are not in a contract, our bill would be a little lower if we committed.

We've had FIOS for close to a year now.

Customer service seems better than our former cable company
