Book suggestions

Any suggestions for good reads lately? I'm going on vacation and will finally have some time to do some 'fun reading.'

Re: Book suggestions

  • If you haven't read "The Hunger Games" series, then I highly recommend it. It's young adult, but so, so good! I also recently read "A Discovery of Witches" and loved it. If you haven't read "The Help" it's also a definite must.

  • i agree on the hunger games

i also love jen lancaster books

  • What style are you looking for?

something to make you think? or some sort of trashy lose your mind book?

  • I second the Hunger Games series, it was really good!  A great vacation read.  I also recommend the Uglies series (Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras) if you are into young adult fiction that reads at a fast pace.

If you are looking for more in depth series fiction reads I would recommend The Help if you haven't read it.  About black maids in the south and their stories that get published in a book, very interesting perspective of social roles in the south.  There is a movie coming out later this year that is based on this movie so might be a good one to pick up.

Another dramatic read is Room by Emma Donoghue, it's a story about a girl who is kidnapped and forced to live in a concealed room by her captor.  She eventually bears a son by him and tries to raise him as normally as possible in the room with her until they can attempt an escape.  It was a very emotional read for me but VERY good.
