Last weekend we took the kids camping. On Sat we stopped off at my parents and had a little b-day party for Allison. The girls stayed there and had a slumber party with the girl cousins. On Sunday we picked them up and they camped out with us.
Here are some reflections.
1) I need to stop planing vacations/outings near Allison's party. Too much at once.
2) I'm anal about packing and hate when I'm not nice and organized. It didn't help I had to pack separate bags for the girls on Sat night, another bag for the girls' pictures on Monday, and Allison's b-day presents and decorations.
3) I need to take the day off before we leave someone so I can pack and organize the car in peace (from kids and husband.)
4) Having a slumber party the night before wasn't the best for the girls. Can we say overtired. However with my mom's upcoming surgery I didn't have the heart to say no, since it will be months before they can do it again.
5) I have a slight fear of the dark - or rather being blind in the dark. I hate being so blind without contact, epsecially when I'm somewhere new. I slept with my glasses on the night with the kids.
6) I don't sleep with the kids in the tent. I was scared Amelia might try to escape.
7) Camping in 90% humidty sucks
8) Allison can sleep in the most awkward position. She was kneeling on the ground by the side of the air mattress and but her torso and head were on the mattress.
9) Sleeping on a not fully inflated air mattress, on a slight slope is not good. Espcially when the heavier person is at the bottom of the slope. At one point in time, I was sleeping on the edge with a death gripe on the mattress so I didn't roll to the middle.
10) I'm very lucky that I am able to do these things with my family and I know that even though my girls are young, I have created some great memories for them. Allison wants to go back to "the woods" and THAT beach, so she can collect more rocks. Amelia told her daycare teacher this morning that she went to the beach last week.
