I thought I'd share the news while I'm still a little shocked. FI was supposed to leave in September for basic training and they had a seat open up for next month. So now he leaves in a couple weeks rather than a little over a month. Excited on one hand, a little bummed on the other.

Re: A Big Change of Plans
Sometimes the bandaid approach works best. The sooner he leaves, the sooner you get to see him! I can understand why you're bummed.
Enjoy this time the best you can!
Gotta love the military roller coaster, lol.
Seriously. FI was super excited to be going in sooner, but he's pretty bummed now. I'm trying to cheer him up, but he's just too upset. Poor guy.
Hey, it gives him a couple more weeks to prepare, right? You can never be too physically prepared for it.
Exactly, and that was one of the points I brought up to him. He's starting to see at least some of the bright side now
Ojo's right, sooner he goes the sooner he'll be back! Then he's not sitting around and waiting.
It was always easier on us when we didn't know when he would be leaving because having a few months drawn out made it hard and I would start picking nothing fights because we just stressed about waiting.
