I don't even know where to start!
Monday - My car failed inspection... after we got denied for the car loans we applied for to buy a new car
Last tuesday a friend of mine that I've known my whole life (our parents were friends) died from a car accident he got in while drinking and driving. Tuesday afternoon my parents gave us the money to buy the new car (thank god... may be the only good thing last week)
Wednesday, I found out the car I bought doesn't have a title, or the people who I bought it from don't have it, so they called the state and it's still being processed... and we should have it in the next few weeks (And Maine State Time = I may never see the damn thing)
Thursday, work sucked so bad I can't even explain the headache I came home with, SO as soon as I got home I vegged out in front of the TV watching a marathon of NY Ink on TLC. I was just about to shut it off when I got a call from the hospital, an EMT (A friend of mine's dad) was calling to see if I could come get my mom and drive her to bangor, my stepdad had been in an accident and was being life-flighted to EMMC.
Now let me tell you, my stepdad has 9 lives... he's used up several of them... a tree fell on him back in the late 80s and broke both his legs, he hit a moose and crushed his truck and walked away with whiplash, he broke his collarbone somehow but was fine, he went backwards around the winch of a skidder when the cable got tied around his leg, broke 3 out of 4 of the ligaments in his knee, and broke his femur, but miraculously fell out of the hold of the winch before he could break his back too, amongst millions of other things... god knows how he's still alive.
So the whole way to Presque Isle I'm invisioning what could possibly have happened to him this time. When I got there I found out that he'd been in a 4 wheeler accident, there was a partially downed tree on the trail and he hit his head(face) on it. He shattered his nose & cheekbone, and nearly lost his right eye, broke his jaw, lacerated his tongue, broke 2 ribs & partially collapsed his lung. They flew him to bangor where he was put in ICU.
Friday they did surgery on his face and were able to save his eye, they don't think he'll be blind, in fact they don't think he will have have lost his vision at all oddly enough, they reconstructed his nose and cheekbone, and you wouldn't believe the difference from what he looked like before!
He's able to communicate by writing, he's got a trach and they wont' take that out until after his last surgery - Tuesday they're going to do surgery to re-attach his jaw and fix whatever else they need to fix. Luckily they think he'll be able to be discharged and recover at home shortly after the surgery.
Unfortunately he does not have medical insurance, he and my mother are applying for MaineCare, and if they're approved they will go back 3 months, so hopefully the $600,000 plus this whole fiasco caught will not fall on his and my mom's shoulders...
A little more backstory - He was on his way home from his girlfriends house, my mom has been packing for 2 weeks to move out because he's been having an affair. He's having an affair with the woman who used to babysit me when I was a kid.
and to top it all off, another friend of mine was killed in another car accident on Sunday. He'd been drinking too, and the other 2 people in his car were both sent to the hospital, one flown to EMMC with life-threatening injuries.
Thank god that week is over.
Re: Last week sucked so bad... (LONG)
Oh my goodness, all I can say is I am so sorry you had to go through all that. That is more then anyone should have to deal with in a year, let alone a week.
On one tiny upside...I just had to send out for a title and it only took about 3 weeks, which I thought wasn't too bad!
(((((HUGS)))))
I'm so sorry this all shiit-stormed you at once. Not cool! More hugs!!
Holy crud muffins. I've been following your updates on FB, but didn't know the relationship. And to have that be just one of a series of awful things from this past week.... OMG. Next week WILL be better because I don't think it could get much worse. *HUGS*
At least you have your adorable baby bump. :-)
I don't know what to say. There are just not words for how sucky that week has been for you. Hugs?

Dang.
