Oh, tiredness

Anyone else have this problem? DH leaves and the first night of sleep just sucks?

Yay for a couple weeks of single parenting. Been quite a while since the last time DH had to travel so it's new ground to see how BabyD does.

Re: Oh, tiredness

  • Granted, I don't have a dh that travels, but there are many evenings that he works late and week nights that he goes to the gym.  He leaves by 6 a.m. for work and usually isn't home until after 6 p.m. and that can really suck.  I feel your pain though being pg and running after a toddler.  It sucks!  Hope baby D sleeps better for you while dh is gone!

Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, Leo decided to wake up at 5:18 this morning, ugh.

  • Leo, dude, sleep in. You have no idea what you are missing. That extra time cuddled in a blanket, sleeping, relaxed, it's just so wonderful. Get on board with the schedule!

Thankfully BabyD sleeps just fine. The problem was me. Trouble going to sleep, trouble staying asleep, and then my alarm went off. At that point I opened my bedroom door and crawl back into bed to try to go back to sleep while listening for the little guy.

Toddler plus pregnant is quite the combo. Does your DH know what a superwoman you are?

  • My issue is that I stay up way too late when DH isn't here, I just loose track of time and next thing I know it's like 9 and I haven't eaten dinner so I eat dinner, take a shower and read my book, then it's like 1 in the morning and I'm still up!

Hahahaha, exactly!  How Leo hasn't grasped the loveliness of sleeping in a nice cuddly warm bed is beyond me.  Weirdo kid haha.  No idea why he was up early today though, he's usually up around 6:30.  Oh well.

Toddler plus pregnancy is definitely an 'interesting' combo.  I'll tell you what, I am so excited that I will never be doing this again.  How are you feeling?  Is Baby D letting you chill a bit or is he go-go-go all the time like Leo?  I think the one good thing I did with Leo, and it was sort of accidental, but also sort of me being selfish, was let him play on his own a lot.  I'm so happy that many times he can entertain himself so I can get things done, but also with being pg I can just chill a bit.

Anyways, sorry about the rant!  Hope you get some better sleep oday.  Take a nap when Baby D does!

  • Yep, I'm the same way.  Whenever DH travels it takes a few days for my sleep schedule to right itself, then whenever he gets back from traveling overseas, his is all screwed up from jetlag!

  • BabyD is pretty good about letting me chill. Part of me feels bad because I work, then come home and make dinner, so he gets even less time with me. But he's always been the type that needs some "him" time or just space even if I'm in the same room. We had some fun today so now I'll let him do his own thing for a bit.

I wish I could nap! Literally can't fall asleep for it. The super-rare time I do take a nap I wake up feeling ill - nauseous, dizzy, achey, just bad. I'm a go, go, go all day until crashing at night. Makes for some looooong afternoons.

That's good that Leo plays on his own. That's a skill. And you very much deserve some chill time with being pregnant. Hard work brewing a baby.

  • Yes.  I do find it tough.  And if I'm the one travelling, it's even worse.
I like pineapples...they make life just so much more interesting.
