Awesome time 3

what a crappy morning.i had no idea how to remove the carseat from the latch, and the tools to lower and remove the spare from under the truck were under the seat upon which the carseat sat. and the guy who came to change the tire didn't know either. what a struggle. it was probably comical to an onlooker!

turns out my tire had 4 nails in it.

after the guy finally removes the tire and replaces with the spare, which is a full tire and not a donut, he tells me the spare is a bit low on air - to just drive to the shop to get it filled and order a replacement tire. so we start talking about putting the replacement on the car and taking one of the older tires and putting that as the spare, so he goes around to check out the threads on the other front tire, and ,low and behold - 3 nails in there too! and one of the back ones also!

he tells me to drive it to the shop, but i cannot drive it further - too dangerous.

dh was recently at the hazardous waste drop off - could have happened there. or in the construction we drive thru in new city, or near his office. who knows.

no matter, a tire with so many holes cannot be patched. we'll be purchasing 3-4 tires on Monday since the shop was booked solid today and our friend couldn't get to it.

this wasn't supposed to happen until November. that car's last payment is in October - lol!

Re: Awesome time 3

  • DH ran over nails last week at the dump dropping off stuff.  Our tires are so big and expensive I am beyond upset.  4 Tires will be  over $1500. Not what I needed right now, so I feel your pain.

  • Sorry, hun.  I just had to replace the tires on my car too, and it sucks.  Glad he found the other issues before you were back out on the road!

  • that totally sucks, but I feel your pain. Last friday in the sweltering heat I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on the west side when the dashboard started to light up and I could feel the engine was about to stall. I get off at 125 st and attempt to make it to the bronx where the H was working. At every stop light and every stop sign I had to keep one foot on the brake and one on the gas to keep it from stalling. (we just replaced the battery 2 weeks ago). As I get closer to the bronx the radio turns off as does the AC! Then the car starts to over heat. I make it all the way to my old office and it dies as I am parking- half in the spot.

We get it towed to a repair place and H drives me home. The next day were at a christening when the repair guy calls and says good news- I fixed the car. Bad news, when I was test driving it it got smashed by some lady.

Awesome. Our 2000 maxima (H's car/ my commuter car) only worth $4k at best now has over $2k of damage to it. Needless to say we dont have it back yet a week later.
