Passport Photos

I need to renew my passport ASAP.  I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions about where to get my photo taken.  I think I got my first one at a little photo place inside a Walmart, but that was in Kalamazoo.  I have no idea where to get one taken over on this side of the state. I've tried google... but I am having a hard time finding anything.

And how much do passport photos cost to take?

Re: Passport Photos

  • We did our at Rite Aid.  I can't remember how much it cost. I know that some post offices take them too.

I would call the drugstores to check if they do them before you drive there. I find that the Post Office is the most convenient bc you can get your picture made AND turn in your crap all at the same time. One stop shop.

  • I've done it at Kinkos & Walgreens - Walgreens was like half the price & lots of times the drugstores have coupons for them.

ETA (prices): Kinkos was $10 & I think Walgreens was $6.
  • Do you have a decent camera and a photo printer?  If so, take it yourself.  Follow the directions on the form and you will be fine.  I have done this for DH, my sister and myself w/no issues.

This has been my experience too, although make sure you do a little research, because I've noticed that many of them will take them by appointment-only (and not all post offices even offer photos).

I also need to renew my passport, and this time around I'm thinking of taking the pics myself to save time and $$.

This is a good idea...I hadn't thought about taking my own photo...

I also didn't know that the post office could take your picture... I may consider that too.

    Thanks guys!

  • I got mine done at CVS, but I've heard AAA does them if you are a member and I know Costco does them.

  • Most of the Walgreen's CVS, and RiteAid do them.  But as a previous poster said, I would call.  A few months ago when I needed to get mine I went to a RiteAid, their camera was broken, so I then went to a nearby CVS, and their camera also was broken.  I ended up just getting it done at the post office because I was tired of trying to find someone who did it.  Though the post office is going to charge you more.
