Why did I want to own a house again...?

I swear this house is fighting us and trying to drive DH and I apart. We are at each other's throats because we're just so frustrated. If you didn't read it before, this is was happened when we first moved in three weeks ago

http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/55308759.aspx

As of Thursday, our kitchen sink will not drain, like, at all. We've tried various Draino type things, even one from Lowe's that is like 99% sulfuric acid, we've tried a plunger and plugging the other side of the sink, I bought a 15ft auger that will go all the way down to the basement floor. Nothing is working! The clog or whatever is somewhere below the T where the two sides of the sink come together because the water will equalize between them. This has been an issue for three days now. We have no money to get a plumber, and if we do, it will have to go on DH's credit card, and I can't wash dishes or run the dishwasher..

AND I JUST RAN OUT OF COFFEE!!!!

  • Oh man, I am so sorry to hear this. I wish I knew something about plumbing but I really just call my dad every time something hsppends.

I hope you get to figure this out and everything will be ok again. This should be a happy time when you get to enjoy your new home. I wish you that it becomes that happy time soon.  Sending you some positive thoughts.  Everything will be OK.

  • I completely understand, sometimes owning a home sucks! There's just so much to maintain and sometimes you get nasty little surprises that cost too much! Hang in there tho! It will get better!
  • Thanks ladies, I hope it gets better, because we sure can't afford for it to get any worse. Roto-rooter is coming tomorrow, I really hope this doesn't get too expensive :-(

  • Sooo sorry your dealing with this!!  I hope you guys get it all figured out soon.  That totally sucks :(  Hopefully roto-rooter can fix the problem and not charge you an arm and a leg!!!

This is one of the things that scares the crap out of me as we are house searching... It's kind of nice being in an apartment and knowing that if anything goes wrong - it's no our problem to fix.  But I am sure that home owning has it's perks.
