JIL or other near ATL ladies

OK, so I'm going to be in ATL around my birthday in Sept and I want to hit up some fabric shops (since the ones around here are the bigbox shops) when I'm there.  Any suggestions?  I'm going to Whipstitch.  Are there any discout/fabric warehouses anywhere?  I remember going to one when I was little w/ my MawMaw but that was sooooo long ago.

ETA: Also would like to visit scrapbook stores as well....those are few and far between here too.

Re: JIL or other near ATL ladies

  • There is one called a Scarlet Thread that I visit when I'm in town. I go to whipstich often as ATL is the halfway point between my daughter's father and I. Whipstitch is on the same road as the gas station where we do the drop off. Scarlet Thread it about fifteen - twenty minutes away if you just get on I-75 from the road Whipstitch is on.

Also, try Ikea. They have fabric. And I love their meatballs. lolol

  • (this is embarrasing)

I have no clue!  Honestly, I tend to stay in my quiet little suburb for fabric shopping or buy online.  We have a couple LQS that have nice selections, but aren't worth driving that far north of the city for.

If you need deocorator weight/upholstry fabric, then there are a couple of shops (on the same road).  Lewis and Sheron (my fav) and Forsyth Fabrics.  They also have a lot of trims.  I purchased a lot of fabric for drapes and LA's nursery from L&S.

  • I also have to remember that I'll probably be dragging my DH along with me and can't plan on too many places...but there is nothing around here.  And I'll actually be staying west of ATL.

@Hindsight that shop looks like so much fun!  A good 'ol southern fabric shop.  Convenient that Whipstitch is right next your dropoff, and its definately on my list b/c I love her book.  And Ikea! Duh.  I've never been to one so I'll definately put that on our list.

@JIL I looked at Forsyth Fabrics.  I'll look into L&S.

    Thanks guys.

L&S is maybe 1/2 mile down the road from Forsyth Fabrics.  Both are strictly upholstry/decorator fabric stores.
