Naked/Veggie Drinks

G is a pretty good eater but I still don't feel like she gets enough fruits/veggies. I started giving her 1/4 Naked juice and 3/4 water to help with her fruits. I was thinking about trying to do this with Veggie juice or even the V8 that  has both fruits/veggies. (So far all she's had is water)

Does anyone else do this? How many servings of fruits/veggies does a LO truly need? I'm probably worrying more than I need and I'll ask my pedi next month at her appt. Just wanted my great nesties opinion and see what you ladies do.

Re: Naked/Veggie Drinks

  • N is a super picky eater. Luckily, one thing she loves is fruit. She won't eat any veggies, so I get her the V8 Fusion juice (blueberry pomegranate) and mix it with water. She loves it! One 8 oz. serving of just the juice has one veggie and one fruit serving. Our pedi wasn't concerned with variety in N's diet, just so long as she was eating something and continuing to gain weight, but he did suggest the juice option to us at her 1 year appointment. I didn't start giving anything besides milk or water until she was probably closer to 18 months old, though (I don't remember exactly).

  • We've done the V8 fruit juice before with Jackson (3/4 water) and he likes it a lot.   Come to think of it I should proabably start that again becasue he is anti-fruit.  He'll do veggies, just struggles with fruit.

  • Buy a juicer! Seriously it will change you life plus there's so many more nutrients in fresh juice than even in a naked.  Also I know a lot of people make green smoothies for their children.  It's a good way to pack in a lot in a small intake.

  • C's pretty good about eating veggies, but we also give him the fruitables juice boxes to drink.  we get them at Costco and they have 1 serving of fruits and 1 serving of vegetables in each box with 1/3 less sugar than other juices.  I'll drink them too and they don't have that sugary taste you get in most juices.  Plus C takes a daily vitamin which helps me feel better about the vitamins he would get in fruits and veggies.
